The "Working for Peace - Exhibition of Oil Paintings by French Painter Christian Bach" was held on the 18th at the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall (referred to as the "Memorial Hall"). This is an exhibition in which the painter was absent. During the preparation for the exhibition, Christian Pach passed away due to illness at the age of 63. Holding an exhibition at the memorial hall as scheduled became his last wish. The art exhibition gathers 44 oil paintings created by Christian Bach from 2015 to 2019, connecting his journey to China with three parts: "The Roar of Nanjing's Pain", "The Nanjing in Bach's Eyes", and "The Bridge to Connect China and Foreign Countries". On May 18th, the "Working for Peace - Exhibition of French Painter Christian Bach's Oil Paintings" was held at the Memorial Hall for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre of the Japanese Invading Army, and the exhibition was attended by the public. Ten years ago, when Christian Pach was passing through Nanjing, his friend's introduction to the Nanjing Massacre shocked him. He was deeply hurt by this catastrophe and began creating oil paintings, which he donated twice to the memorial hall. In 2015, he spent more than six months creating a nearly 8-meter-long giant oil painting called "Violence", expressing his understanding of the history of the Nanjing Massacre through artistic representation. "Violence" is also the largest scale work he has created in his more than 30 years of painting career. On the 18th, the "Working for Peace - Exhibition of French Painter Christian Bach's Oil Paintings" was held at the Memorial Hall for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre of the Japanese Invading Army, and many people went to visit. Several family members of Christian Pach attended the opening ceremony. His daughter Xia Meng said in her speech that her father was very much looking forward to revisiting Nanjing with this exhibition as an opportunity before his death. He loves the resilience and modernity of the city of Nanjing. He is an honorary citizen of Nanjing, and he is deeply proud of it. He created with great care and used colors to paint for peace. He endured tremendous pain while creating "Violence", and when the work on the canvas was completed, he felt relieved. Father's paintings will forever touch people's hearts and continue to convey a message of peace to the world. The director of the memorial hall, Zhou Feng, stated that Pah's paintings will build a "bridge of peace" and "bridge of friendship" for Sino foreign exchanges, inspiring people to reflect on war and maintain hard-earned peace.
