The police conducted a food safety test on the capsules provided by Wu and found that they contained "sibutramine", which is a toxic and harmful non food raw material. They immediately established a special investigation team to file a case. Based on clues, the police investigated the sources and sales channels of harmful weight loss capsules and found that this was a case of cross provincial sales of toxic and harmful food. After nearly half a year's investigation, the police went to Guangdong, Fujian, Gansu, Hebei and other six provinces to arrest the suspect. In March this year, as the last suspect of the case was captured in Handan, Hebei Province, all the suspect involved in the production and sale of toxic and harmful food were arrested. Zhu Dehong, the third level chief of the public security management team of Tunxi Branch of Mount Huangshan Public Security Bureau, successively arrested 8 suspect, destroyed two production dens, detained more than 50000 toxic and harmful weight loss capsules and candies, and the cumulative sales amount exceeded 10 million yuan. It is reported that "sibutramine" is a central nervous system suppressive drug that suppresses the appetite center, enhances the feeling of fullness in the stomach, reduces appetite, and long-term use can cause adverse reactions such as dry mouth, insomnia, increased heart rate, and limb twitching. In severe cases, it can lead to arrhythmia and even myocardial infarction. As early as 2010, China officially issued a notice calling for the cessation of production and sales of sibutramine preparations and active pharmaceutical ingredients.
