National Security Agency Reminder: These ecological data are related to national security and should not be leaked
2024-05-13
Ecological prosperity leads to civilized prosperity. Ecological security is an important component of national security and a crucial guarantee for sustained and healthy economic and social development. In recent years, some overseas non-governmental organizations or foundations, under the banner of "project investigation and research" and "ecological governance and protection", have illegally collected and stolen sensitive data on geography, meteorology, biology, and other important nature reserves in China, posing risks and hidden dangers to national security. "Hello, I am a professor from X country and I am here to conduct cross-border academic exchanges. I would like to explore the local ecological environment with you and provide you with generous financial rewards!" Under the leadership of local people, foreign personnel claiming to be professors from X country have installed multiple instruments and equipment for "investigating the ecological environment" in a national level wetland protection area, forest farm, and other places in China, established multiple small observation and experimental sites, and illegally collected a large amount of sensitive data on geography, meteorology, biology, and other important nature reserves in China. National security agencies, in conjunction with relevant departments, quickly carry out work based on clues and promptly stop illegal activities. Professor X admitted to the fact that he used academic cooperation as a cover to collect and steal non-traditional security data in China. The national security organs, in conjunction with relevant departments, shall handle the personnel involved, such as Professor X, in accordance with the law. A foreign university, with the support of overseas non-governmental organizations, has launched a so-called "project cooperation" in the field of natural ecology with a research management unit of a national nature reserve in southwestern China. It has also used methods such as interest solicitation and sexual inducement to lure our personnel into the water, instructing and coercing them to cooperate in illegally stealing various sensitive data from China's nature reserve. The work of national security agencies has found that the non-governmental organization has a complex background. This time, a certain Western country used project cooperation as a cover to illegally collect and steal core sensitive data resources in China's nature reserves without the approval of any department in China. They also illegally installed meteorological stations, deployed infrared camera equipment, conducted GPS surveying, and stole confidential computer information in the core areas of China's nature reserves, obtaining a large amount of geographical, meteorological, biological and other sensitive data and image materials in China's important nature reserves and transmitting them to the outside world, causing serious harm to China's ecological security. It is important to be aware that the digital and information construction of China's ecological environment is steadily advancing, providing strong support for maintaining national ecological security, but also facing some risks and challenges. The work of national security agencies has found that some enterprises and institutions in the field of ecological environment have certain risks of leakage in the process of collecting, storing, and processing local ecological environment related data; Individual ecological environment information systems have backdoor vulnerabilities, becoming important targets for foreign hostile forces to steal sensitive and confidential data from China; Individual third-party companies responsible for the development and operation of the system illegally collect, store, and process ecological environment related data, posing hidden dangers to China's ecological security. Ensuring national ecological security cannot be achieved without optimizing and improving the protection of ecological security related data. The national security organs will work together with relevant parties to resolutely crack down on data theft activities targeting China's ecological environment, assist in building protective dams, and effectively safeguard China's ecological security. The national security organs remind us that the geographical, meteorological, biological and other basic data of important nature reserves in China are precious data resources unique to our country, closely related to ecological security, biological security, data security, etc. The illegal collection and cross-border transmission of sensitive data without approval poses a threat to our national security and interests. Article 4 of the Anti Espionage Law of the People's Republic of China stipulates that activities carried out by foreign institutions, organizations, or individuals other than espionage organizations and their agents, or activities carried out by domestic institutions, organizations, or individuals in collusion with them, such as stealing, spying, buying, illegally providing state secrets, intelligence, and other documents, data, information, and items related to national security and interests, or instigating, luring, coercing, or buying state personnel to defect, are considered espionage acts. Ecological security is closely related to every citizen. Protecting the security of ecological resource data is the obligation and responsibility of every citizen. In case of any clue of illegally collecting ecological environment data, waiting for opportunities to damage the ecological environment, or any other suspicious situation endangering national security, you can report it to the local national security authority through the 12339 national security organ reporting acceptance telephone, the online reporting platform (www.12339. gov.cn), the WeChat official account of the Ministry of National Security, or directly report it to the local national security authority.
