Maritime police agencies at all levels in the South China Sea have launched a special law enforcement operation for the summer fishing ban

Under the unified deployment of the South China Sea Branch of the China Maritime Police Bureau, various levels of maritime police agencies in the South China Sea have recently launched a special law enforcement operation for the summer fishing ban. They have joined forces with law enforcement forces from various coastal regions such as fishery authorities to jointly carry out maritime supervision during the fishing ban period and ensure a good start to the fishing ban order. Starting from 12:00 on May 1st, the South China Sea waters north of 12 degrees north latitude in China entered the off-season fishing season, with over 44000 fishing boats from Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan provinces returning to port for fishing. In recent days, maritime police agencies at all levels have deployed law enforcement forces in a hierarchical manner in accordance with the principle of "should go out as much as possible", implemented grid patrols and control in their jurisdiction, carried out large-scale and high-density sea sweeping operations in the entire sea area, and severely cracked down on fishing vessels that violate the summer fishing ban regulations and fail to return to port for fishing bans as required. Guangdong Maritime Police Bureau continued to focus on the key sea areas near the the Pearl River Estuary, Wushi Port in Zhanjiang, and Nan'ao Island in Shantou, and coordinated with the fishery administration, public security and other departments to conduct joint patrols and crack down on "electric bombing" and various illegal fishing crimes. The Guangxi Maritime Police Bureau actively strengthens law enforcement coordination and coordination with fishing administration, public security and other departments, strengthens joint logistics linkage, conducts regular patrols on fishing ports, main routes for fishing boats entering and exiting, necessary waterways, key fishing areas, fishing grounds, and areas near bottom trawl fishing bans, improves the rate of seeing police and boarding at sea, creates a three-dimensional control network of "sea+air+land", and severely crack down on various illegal fishing activities. The Hainan Coast Guard continues to strengthen its law enforcement efforts in the surrounding areas of Hainan Island, the Beibu Gulf, and the waters under the jurisdiction of Xisha. It adopts a model of "normal patrol and supervision of 100 ton ships, and rapid investigation and punishment by motorboats nearby" to carry out a large-scale inspection of various fishing vessels at sea in a dragnet style, ensuring the safety and stability of the waters under its jurisdiction during the peak fishing season with strict law enforcement supervision. As of May 7th, the South China Sea Branch of the China Coast Guard has organized its subordinate maritime police agencies to deploy a total of 617 law enforcement vessels, board and inspect 82 types of vessels, investigate and punish 11 illegal fishing vessels, transfer 3 illegal fishing vessels, drive away 76 foreign fishing vessels, seize 15685 kilograms of illegal catch and more than 20 fishing gear, investigate and handle 8 cases of unlicensed driving of motor vessels, and file 1 criminal case. According to relevant departments of the South China Sea Branch of the China Coast Guard, early deployment, implementation, and action have been taken to enforce the fishing ban during the summer vacation in the South China Sea this year. Information sharing, law enforcement cooperation, and joint logistics have been implemented with relevant maritime departments, resulting in overall better maritime order during the first week of the summer vacation compared to the same period last year. The South China Sea Branch of the China Coast Guard will strengthen the organization and coordination of law enforcement forces from the maritime police and fishery departments in Guangdong, Hainan, and Guangxi provinces, forming an overall force for maritime law enforcement. It will continue to increase the enforcement and control of maritime fisheries, crack down on various illegal and criminal activities during the fishing ban period, ensure maritime safety and stability, and strictly implement the fishing ban system.
