According to the Regulations on the Administration of Anesthetic Drugs and Psychotropic Drugs, psychotropic drugs are divided into the first category of psychotropic drugs and the second category of psychotropic drugs. The directory shall be formulated, adjusted, and published by the drug regulatory department of the State Council in conjunction with the public security department and the competent health department of the State Council. Retail enterprises of Class II psychotropic drugs shall sell Class II psychotropic drugs at the prescribed dosage based on the prescription issued by practicing physicians, and keep the prescription for 2 years for future reference; Prohibit the sale of Class II psychotropic drugs at excessive doses or without a prescription; It is not allowed to sell Class II psychotropic drugs to minors. Dexmethafen, also known as hydrobromate Dexmethafen, is a right-handed morphine derivative with antitussive effects. It is commonly used to treat cough caused by various respiratory infections, and high-dose use may increase the risk of respiratory depression. In extreme cases, it may even lead to the death of the medication taker due to respiratory depression. In addition, long-term abuse of this drug may also cause damage to the brain and lead to mental disorders. In view of these serious health risks, relevant departments are increasingly strengthening their supervision of dextromethorphane. In December 2021, the National Medical Products Administration announced the conversion of dextromethorphane hydrobromide, which was originally an over-the-counter (OTC) drug, to prescription drug (RX) management; Subsequently, on December 1, 2022, the "Drug Network Sales Prohibition List (First Edition)" was officially implemented, which clearly stipulated that oral monotherapy of dexamethasone cannot be retailed through the internet.
