On May 7th, Hong Kong teachers and students who participated in the "Exploration Tour of Ningxia History, Culture, Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation" exchange activity took a group photo at the Sixth Middle School in Yinchuan, Ningxia. On the 7th, 90 teachers and students from six high schools in Hong Kong, along with local students, experienced the school's unique literacy classes at the Sixth Middle School in Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. "The first time I tried tie dyeing, it felt very interesting and very experiential," said Xie Anqi, a student at Kwai Chung Methodist Middle School in Hong Kong. The students at No. 6 Middle School were very friendly and always assisted me, and soon I became one with them. It is understood that the 5-day exchange activity for Hong Kong high school students on the exploration of Ningxia's history, culture, natural resources, and environmental conservation will start from the 6th. Yinchuan Sixth Middle School is one of the important stops, and Hong Kong teachers and students visited the school's maker space, functional classrooms, and psychological counseling room. "I really like the geography classroom at this school. There are many models that allow students to learn geography more vividly, rather than just relying on the text in the textbooks," said Lin Xitong, a student at Qiu Zuo Rong Middle School of the Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association. On May 7th, Shen Xiaoping, the principal of the Sixth Middle School in Yinchuan, Ningxia, introduced tools for students to learn carpentry to Hong Kong teachers and students. Unlike the seaside scenery in Hong Kong, Ningxia is located in the northwest inland region with magnificent natural scenery. This event allowed Hong Kong students to see many scenery that they had never seen before, learn about the diverse cultures of their motherland, and break their stereotypes about Ningxia. "The transportation here is convenient and the infrastructure is well-established. It is not as desolate as the northwest region imagined, and different from big cities such as Beijing and Shanghai." Lin Xitong is looking forward to the upcoming desert trip and hopes to use this rare opportunity to experience different ethnic customs and cultures. On May 7th, Hong Kong middle school students learned to write calligraphy at the Sixth Middle School in Yinchuan, Ningxia. Previously, students could only read in books and listen to teachers in class. However, this trip to Ningxia has brought geography and history classes to life. Lin Aishi, a teacher at Qiu Zuorong Middle School, said, "It is rare for Hong Kong students to come to the northwest. After watching the Helan Mountain rock paintings, the students are amazed." This exchange event was jointly organized by the Ningxia Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office and the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Hong Kong teachers and students will also travel to places such as Xixialing, Shapotou, Qingtongxia, and the Yellow River Grand Canyon to learn about Ningxia's history and culture, appreciate the Yellow River and desert landscapes, cultivate Hong Kong students' national identity, and cultivate patriotism.
