Heart failure is a nightmare for millions of families. "For end-stage heart failure, although heart transplantation is a good treatment, due to the severe shortage of heart donors, it cannot meet the needs of patients. The treatment and care of end-stage heart failure consume a lot of resources and are a global medical and health problem," said Liu Xiaocheng, director of Tianjin Teda International Cardiovascular Hospital. This product is known as "Rocket Heart". Due to the high complexity, long cycle, and high cost of fluid design for rocket hearts, it is particularly important to select technical solutions that meet clinical requirements through numerical simulation technology. The National Supercomputing Tianjin Center promptly joined in to construct a hemodynamic model of the cardiovascular coupling system, and used the "Tianhe Digital Simulation Cloud Platform" to digitize the design and multi condition experimental verification of the ventricular assist device, greatly improving the performance of the blood pump. The platform also accelerates the research and development iteration and production landing of new products, reducing the development cycle of new products by 30%. In 2018, HeartCon, an implantable left ventricular assist system, was approved by the National Medical Products Administration and entered the special approval process for innovative medical devices. As the first domestically produced artificial heart that has successfully completed 50 clinical trials in accordance with the regulations of the National Medical Products Administration and had the highest number of implants at that time, it was approved for market launch in July 2022.
