The Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions holds an International Labor Day cocktail party

The Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions (FTU) held an International Labor Day reception on the 23rd. During his speech at the reception, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, expressed his hope that the Federation of Trade Unions will continue to work together with the SAR government to contribute to the future of Hong Kong and the well-being of working women and families. The Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions held an International Labor Day reception, with Li Jiachao (fifth from right) attending and delivering a speech. According to Li Jiachao, a photo provided by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government News Network, Hong Kong needs leaders to create new methods and paths in various fields in its new journey of governance and development. He praised the model worker, great country craftsmen and the first "Five? One Labor Week" series of activities proposed by Wu Qiubei, president of the Federation of Trade Unions, which showed the new thinking and new methods of leaders. Li Jiachao stated that the SAR government is making every effort to promote Hong Kong's economic development and improve people's livelihoods. Last year's Policy Address proposed a review of the "continuity contract" provision commonly known as "418", the implementation of the "reemployment allowance pilot plan", and the optimization of the review mechanism for the statutory minimum wage. The Labor Advisory Committee reached a consensus in February this year to review the 418 regulation. After consultation with labor organizations, the Labour Department will implement the "Reemployment Allowance Trial Plan" in the third quarter of this year, and the SAR government is also promoting the establishment of a review mechanism to optimize the statutory minimum wage. Looking ahead, Li Jiachao stated that the SAR government will implement the cancellation of the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) hedging arrangement on May 1 next year, review the upper limit of severance pay preferential payments under the Bankruptcy Wage Protection Fund, and strengthen the maintenance of employee occupational safety and health. During his speech, Huang Guo, the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions, stated that members of the Federation will not forget their original intention to create the association, strive to be patriotic "vanguard", alleviate concerns about people's livelihoods, leverage their own advantages, safeguard labor rights, and assist in solving deep-seated social conflicts such as housing, elderly care, and medical care.
