According to the giant panda cooperation research agreement signed between China and Austria in 2002, the giant pandas "Yangyang" and "Longhui" went to Meiquan Palace Zoo to live in March 2003. The five giant panda babies born during this period have all been sent back to China after reaching the age of two. After the male giant panda "Long Hui" passed away due to illness in 2016, at the request of the Austrian side, the Chinese side sent another male giant panda "Yuan Yuan" to accompany "Yangyang" in 2019. As a witness to the cooperation and protection of giant pandas between China and Austria, Dong'er participated in a series of important events, including the visit of giant pandas "Yangyang" and "Longhui" to their homes in Austria and the return of their children to China. Dong'er said that since the arrival of giant pandas at Meiquan Palace Zoo, they have been the undisputed "stars" here. The birthday of a giant panda, the birth of a giant panda baby, and the return of a giant panda baby to China have all attracted the attention of the Austrian public.
