As the first cargo ship of the "Cherry Express", the "Bach" carried approximately 2500 tons of cherries. "The preservation of cherries is difficult and requires high requirements for the business environment and comprehensive logistics capabilities of ports. Direct transportation of cherries is recognized as a benchmark in the fruit transportation industry." Zhang Lei, General Manager of Tianjin Port Group Logistics Co., Ltd., introduced that previously, most ports in China with such capabilities were in Guangdong and Shanghai. After unloading at the southern port, the cherries are transported by road to the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region, which usually takes 2 days. Cherries are not easy to store and are not durable. At the beginning of 2023, Tianjin Port Group established a Chilean Tianjin Chelizi Express working group, which has successively contacted Chilean government departments, the top ten mainstream shipping companies globally, domestic foreign trade merchants, and large agricultural wholesale merchants in various regions to understand market demand. Finally, before the Spring Festival, the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region welcomed its first Chelizi cargo ship. In the next week, there will be 2 Chilean cherries container ships arriving at port, with a total of 8300 tons of cherries and other South American products loaded on the three ships. Zhang Lei introduced that the opening of the Chilean Tianjin Chelizi Direct Express has built a safer, more convenient, and efficient logistics channel for imported fruits in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei and northern regions, optimized the logistics layout of imported fruits in the north, and improved the resilience, freshness, and safety of the imported fruit supply chain. Fast: Covering the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region in 5 hours, around 9 pm on the 16th, the "Bach" will soon enter the Tianjin Port anchorage. Ports, customs, maritime, freight companies, and others are ready, and a relay race is about to begin. After entering the Bohai Sea, it tracks the dynamics of the Bach in real-time through electronic cruise control, and opens up a green channel for the approval of relevant procedures at the port of entry and exit through remote pre examination, helping the ship to make direct berths.
