A cherry, "sweet" throughout the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region

2024-01-18

On the late night of January 16th, a giant ship crossed the Pacific Ocean and slowly sailed into Tianjin Port, breaking through the reflection of lights on the sea and firmly stopping at the berth. This container ship is loaded with approximately 2500 tons of Chilean cherries. From then on, the Chelizi Express, which spans half the world, connects Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Chile. Early on the 17th, fresh cherries arrived at the main fruit and vegetable markets in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region. This is the first direct sea "Chelizi Express" to South America opened in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region. A small cherry has allowed consumers in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region to taste the sweet fruits of the southern hemisphere and the economic benefits of the coordinated development of the region over the past 10 years. Faraway: In the southern hemisphere, cherries drifted across the sea. On the morning of the 17th, Tianjin was covered in flying snow. The Tianjin Port Pacific International Container Terminal is adorned with red decorations, creating a lively atmosphere. The launching ceremony of "jointly building the the Belt and Road to promote trade facilitation" Tianjin Chelizi Express Line is underway. Representatives from Tianjin and Chile jointly celebrate the official opening of this "sweet route". In late December last year, the Bach set sail from the port of San Antonio in Chile and traveled over 10000 nautical miles to Tianjin Port. As the first cargo ship of the "Cherry Express", the "Bach" carried approximately 2500 tons of cherries. "The preservation of cherries is difficult and requires high requirements for the business environment and comprehensive logistics capabilities of ports. Direct transportation of cherries is recognized as a benchmark in the fruit transportation industry." Zhang Lei, General Manager of Tianjin Port Group Logistics Co., Ltd., introduced that previously, most ports in China with such capabilities were in Guangdong and Shanghai. After unloading at the southern port, the cherries are transported by road to the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region, which usually takes 2 days. Cherries are not easy to store and are not durable. How can people in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei taste them faster? At the beginning of 2023, Tianjin Port Group established a Chilean Tianjin Chelizi Express working group, which has successively contacted Chilean government departments, the top ten mainstream shipping companies globally, domestic foreign trade merchants, and large agricultural wholesale merchants in various regions to understand market demand. Finally, before the Spring Festival, the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region welcomed its first Chelizi cargo ship. In the next week, there will be 2 Chilean cherries container ships arriving at port, with a total of 8300 tons of cherries and other South American products loaded on the three ships. Zhang Lei introduced that the opening of the Chilean Tianjin Chelizi Direct Express has built a safer, more convenient, and efficient logistics channel for imported fruits in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei and northern regions, optimized the logistics layout of imported fruits in the north, and improved the resilience, freshness, and safety of the imported fruit supply chain. Fast: Covering the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region in 5 hours, around 9 pm on the 16th, the "Bach" will soon enter the Tianjin Port anchorage. Ports, customs, maritime, freight companies, and others are ready, and a relay race is about to begin. The Dongjiang Maritime Safety Bureau closely monitors the navigation status of the Bach from Chile to Tianjin throughout the journey. After entering the Bohai Sea, it tracks the dynamics of the Bach in real-time through electronic cruise control, and opens up a green channel for the approval of relevant procedures at the port of entry and exit through remote pre examination, helping the ship to make direct berths. "The entire port entry process saves 2 hours," said Rui Qisong, the captain of the Shanghai Coast Guard Law Enforcement Brigade of the East Xinjiang Maritime Safety Bureau. After the ship docked, the three work lines immediately became busy. That night, Tianjin Port comprehensively improved the logistics speed of all links, with single container trucks
