Commentator from Guangming Net: C919's Increase in Commercial Flight Frequency Worth Attention

2024-01-10

Commentator from Guangming Net: Recently, there has been constant news about the domestically produced large passenger aircraft C919. Today (January 9th), China Eastern Airlines C919 began operating the most important domestic route in China, the Beijing Shanghai route. Passengers can choose to experience the C919 on flights from Beijing Daxing Airport to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. Similarly, this month, all four daily round-trip flights from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport to Chengdu Tianfu Airport on the China Eastern Airlines Shanghai Chengdu Air Express have started operating with C919. Last May, the C919 successfully completed the world's first commercial passenger flight, and subsequently operated commercial flights at a frequency of only one round trip per day for the majority of the time. With COMAC continuously delivering new C919 aircraft, some airports and airlines have begun to accumulate operational experience in C919. Chinese airlines have also increased the density of C919 commercial flights in China. This is a good thing and a necessary path for the development of China's large aircraft industry. Large passenger planes are essentially high-tech commodities. Only through mass production and market inspection can they be considered qualified commodities when entering the market, and qualified commodities are the most basic conditions for participating in market competition. In the field of large passenger aircraft, China has just started, and the C919 is a "newborn". Its growth path will inevitably face many difficulties and challenges. Therefore, the current C919 commercial passenger flights are actually a process of accumulating experience and adapting to the market while ensuring flight safety and passenger safety. This is also a process that any large passenger aircraft in the world must go through. In a certain sense, the increase in commercial flight density and route quantity of C919 is in line with market laws and also in line with the development path of high-tech commercial products. In the early stages of commercial passenger flights over the past six months, the C919 encountered a certain number of various types of problems, which directly helped manufacturers and airlines discover and solve problems in practice. Although there are many excellent products in the international large aircraft market, China's commitment to developing domestically produced large aircraft has multiple practical significance. China has the world's largest civil aviation market with broad prospects, and the participation of all global aircraft manufacturers cannot meet China's demand for large passenger aircraft. Therefore, by participating in global competition, domestic large passenger aircraft can not only seize some market share and benefit from it, but also continuously learn from experience in competition, and use this to drive the construction, development, and improvement of the entire civil aviation industry chain. Only with market demand and continuous commercial operation of domestically produced large aircraft can demand drive development, promote the construction and development of China's aviation industry chain, promote continuous innovation of upstream and downstream enterprises in large aircraft manufacturing, and work together to help the C919 establish a stable foothold in the domestic civil aviation market and move towards the international civil aviation market. The 2024 National Civil Aviation Work Conference proposed to promote the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) accreditation review of C919 aircraft and promote the export of domestically produced civil aircraft. In the global civil aviation market, large aircraft models that have obtained airworthiness certification from EASA or the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States are equivalent to being recognized by the vast majority of countries. EASA airworthiness certification should not be underestimated, and the difficulty is naturally high. The C919 also requires
