Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Forestry Bureau released the list of important provincial-level wetlands in Guangdong Province for 2023. Nine wetlands, including Yangdong Shouchanghe mangrove forest and Yangjiang Hailing Island mangrove forest, were selected, and the number of important provincial-level wetlands in the province increased to 27. It is understood that the newly selected wetlands cover seven wetland types, including mangrove forest land, coastal mudflat, inland mudflat, and river water surface, with unique ecosystems, good water quality, and rich biodiversity. Guangdong attaches great importance to strengthening the management and protection of wetland resources, actively promoting the construction of wetland classification management system and resource supervision and protection utilization. As of now, Guangdong Province has 6 internationally important wetlands, 3 nationally important wetlands, and 27 provincial-level important wetlands, as well as 27 national wetland parks and 15 provincial-level small and micro wetland construction demonstration sites.
