At present, the forest coverage rate in Guangdong is 53.03%, and key ecological indicators such as forest volume and the number of nature reserves rank among the top in the country, laying a solid "green foundation" for the high-quality development of Guangdong in the new era. On December 8, 2022, the Decision of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China on Deepening the Ecological Construction of Green and Beautiful Guangdong (hereinafter referred to as the Decision) was reviewed and approved, officially opening the prelude to building a new pattern of ecological construction in green and beautiful Guangdong. Over the past year, Guangdong has actively carried out the "Six Major Actions" and exceeded the task of accurately improving forest quality ahead of schedule; Using the "forest chief system" to promote "forest management", the footprints of 93067 forest chiefs in the province have spread throughout the land of southern Guangdong, continuously making the mountains "green", the forests "big", the living environment "beautiful", and the mountain people "rich". Overfulfilled the task of optimizing forest stands and nurturing forests ahead of schedule, with frost stained red maple and golden ginkgo trees. As the weather gradually cools down, Guangdong has entered the best season for appreciating colorful leaves. Adding to the scenery around us, citizens picked up their cameras and paintbrushes and walked into the forest, recording the colorful scenery and enjoying the green beauty of Guangdong. The multi tree species, multi-level, and multi-color forest vegetation created by representative local tree species such as red cone, Schima superba, and fire Nan in the mountains, water, roadsides, and villages of the whole province is painting a different and distinct background for the beautiful mountains and rivers of southern Guangdong. This is due to the in-depth implementation of the "Six Major Actions" for ecological construction in Green and Beautiful Guangdong, led by the precise improvement of forest quality. Since the beginning of this year, Guangdong has actively carried out the transformation of low-quality and inefficient forests and the restoration of degraded coniferous forests in accordance with the requirements of the Decision, creating a regional forest landscape with local characteristics and enhancing forest carbon sequestration capacity. As of now, our province has completed the optimization and improvement of 2.0365 million mu of forest stands and 2.0557 million mu of forest nurturing, exceeding the annual target ahead of schedule; The afforestation area shown in the above figure is 2.3026 million mu, including 877800 mu of artificial afforestation (artificial renewal), 910700 mu of degraded forest restoration, and 514100 mu of closed mountain afforestation. The "Six Actions" are key tasks for the ecological construction of green and beautiful Guangdong, covering multiple fields such as national greening, urban and rural beautification, and protection of wildlife and plant resources. Since the beginning of this year, the Provincial Forestry Bureau has deeply promoted the "Six Actions" of green and beautiful ecological construction in Guangdong, resulting in profound changes in forest ecology. The protection of ancient and famous trees continues to strengthen. Since the beginning of this year, the Provincial Greening Committee and other units have continuously issued guidance on strengthening the protection and management of 85561 ancient and famous trees and 907 ancient tree clusters in the province, including the Action Plan for Enhancing the Protection of Ancient and Famous Trees (2023-2035); In the past two years, a total of 104 demonstration points for ancient tree rescue and rejuvenation technology have been built in the province, as well as 851 first-class ancient and famous tree video monitoring and protection points.
