Anji, Zhejiang Province, has nearly one million acres of bamboo forests and is a well-known bamboo township. The bamboo industry is also one of the pillar industries in the local area. In recent years, the bamboo industry in Anji has started to recover: the total output value of the county's bamboo industry in 2022 is about 16.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of about 7.7%. Chen Jie believes that this is closely related to the local promotion of the "bamboo instead of plastic" plan. "The use of bamboo in construction, packaging, textiles, disposable products, and other fields, while balancing ecological and economic benefits, presents a broad development prospect." Developing more green scenes such as bamboo toothbrushes, bamboo combs, and bamboo chairs with bamboo instead of plastic... Pushing open the door of the "Erji Rusu" homestay, the room is filled with "bamboo wind". Taking advantage of the weekend, Shanghai tourist Chen Yi brought her child to Baofu Town in Anji County for a visit. Her eyes were filled with bamboo elements, which made her shine: "It matches the environment very well. Using bamboo products instead of plastic is not only environmentally friendly, but also more beautiful." She expressed her desire to bring a set home. In September last year, Anji issued relevant implementation opinions to accelerate the promotion of innovative application of bamboo products, encourage the use of bamboo products instead of plastic products in key industries such as accommodation and catering, life services, and cultural tourism. Baofu Town became the first pilot township to use bamboo instead of plastic in homestays. "I heard that the town has introduced a subsidy method of 'replacing plastic with bamboo', and I immediately filled out the subsidy application. Homestay owner Yao Weichen told reporters that in February of this year, the town introduced a procurement reward method of 'replacing plastic with bamboo'. He purchased 40 sets of bamboo tableware in one go and replaced bamboo lamps, tables, and chairs for the guest rooms.". "In addition to arranging a special promotion fund of no less than 500000 yuan, we also cultivate bamboo and wood enterprises in the town to build bamboo daily necessities production lines, organize the town homestay association to visit and inspect, sign supply agreements, clarify supply and demand channels, reduce enterprise costs, and smooth internal circulation," said Zhou Ying, Deputy Mayor of Baofu Town. In the Sanliting Agricultural and Sideline Products Trading Market, a fully biodegradable bamboo film bag made of bamboo fiber has attracted attention.
