Exceeding 1 million vehicles per license plate in Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao

2023-11-02

The "Macau car northbound" and "Hong Kong car northbound" are important measures to promote the connectivity of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and promote the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. As of 17:35 on November 1st, the number of North bound Hong Kong Macao single license plate vehicles inspected by the border inspection station of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge has exceeded 1 million. This year, driven by the "Hong Kong car northbound" and "Macao car northbound" policies, the monthly average traffic volume at Zhuhai highway ports has increased by over 8.1%. It is reported that in the early stages of the implementation of the "Macau Car North" policy, the number of single license vehicles in Macau showed a doubling trend, and stabilized at 120000-130000 vehicles per month after May. On July 1st, the policy of "Hong Kong vehicles heading north" was implemented, and the monthly number of Hong Kong vehicles heading north steadily increased, with an average monthly increase of around 10000 vehicles. As of now, the border inspection station of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge has cumulatively inspected over 110000 vehicles with single license plates in Hong Kong. Since October, the number of customs clearance for 'Hong Kong vehicles heading north' and 'Macao vehicles heading north' has reached 182000, an increase of 21% compared to the previous month. The average daily traffic volume on weekends and holidays reached 6900, accounting for about 65% of the total daily passenger traffic volume at the port. Hong Kong and Macao single license vehicles have become the main driving force at the port. Among them, the highest daily clearance records for single license vehicles in Hong Kong and Macao are 4200 and 4900, respectively The relevant person in charge of the border inspection station of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge stated. According to the border inspection department, the traffic at Zhuhai highway ports is relatively smooth from Monday to Friday, and the peak hours for entry and exit are generally concentrated from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00; On weekends and public holidays in Hong Kong and Macao, ports are experiencing extreme peak traffic, with 1000 vehicles entering the port in one direction per hour, which is 1.42 times the highest unilateral traffic volume at the port. The peak hours last for 6 to 8 hours. In response to peak passenger and vehicle flow, the station has established an early warning mechanism with Hong Kong and Macao to grasp the dynamics of passenger and vehicle flow in advance; Establish a cross unit service support mechanism, fully open and inspect channels during peak hours, and maximize the flow of passengers and vehicles during peak hours; Prepare for emergency response in case of emergencies, continuously strengthen the release of port dynamic information, dispatch more technical personnel to maintain the normal operation of the inspection system, and make every effort to ensure efficient and convenient port clearance. At the same time, the border inspection department reminds Hong Kong and Macao car owners to promptly understand the customs clearance status at the port before traveling on weekends and holidays, pay attention to staggered travel, and reserve enough time to complete the clearance procedures to avoid delaying the journey; For the first time, Hong Kong and Macao single license vehicle owners who have traveled north have learned about the customs clearance process in advance. When using the "one-stop" customs clearance, they should pay attention to the system display screen and voice prompts to achieve "joint acceleration". (New News Agency)
