The Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou Shenzhen Hong Kong high-speed railway opened the Zhanjiang West New Line on the 11th, adding 5 new stations including Jiangmen, Kaipingnan, Yangjiang, Maoming, and Zhanjiang West, connecting famous overseas Chinese towns and multiple youth innovation and entrepreneurship bases in the Jiangmen and Kaiping areas, and expanding network coverage to the western region of Guangdong. On the morning of the 11th, about 120 Hong Kong citizens participated in the first group and took the first Zhanjiang West Line train to Jiangmen for tourism. At the West Kowloon Station in Hong Kong, staff assisted passengers in their travel, and the overall operation was smooth and orderly. The mascot of "High Speed Rail Captain" also appeared and distributed small gifts, creating a warm atmosphere. It is understood that the newly added Zhanjiang West Line provides one northbound and one southbound train per day, and train services between West Kowloon Station in Hong Kong, Guangzhou East Station, and Futian Station have also been strengthened since the same day. Hong Kong Railway Co., Ltd. stated that this service optimization will further enhance the coverage of the high-speed rail network, with direct access to 73 stations across the country, including seven major cities in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, including Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhaoqing, Foshan, Dongguan, Huizhou, and Jiangmen. Train services will increase from 182 to 188 daily, further promoting the "one hour living circle" in the Greater Bay Area.
