The governance of a great country is based on rivers and mountains, and water transportation and national transportation are closely linked. In the past decade of comprehensively deepening reform, we have coordinated the management of water resources, water environment, and water ecology, and each river and lake has changed its appearance. Water network construction is a major national event. Based on the overall basin and spatial balance of water resources, we have scientifically promoted the implementation of 129 major cross basin and cross regional water diversion projects represented by the South to North Water Diversion Project, effectively balancing China's regional water resources and productivity layout needs. Strengthen the ecological civilization system, implement the "strictest environmental protection law in history", and formulate and revise multiple relevant laws such as the Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law and the Yangtze River Protection Law. Water is governed by men, and responsibility is borne by men. Establish and improve systems for environmental protection, such as "Party and government responsibilities" and "dual responsibilities for one position", to safeguard the green waters and mountains. Adhering to systematic governance, China's Rivers and Lakes have fundamentally improved in recent years. In 2022, the proportion of excellent surface water quality sections in China has increased to 87.9%, which is close to the level of developed countries. The proportion of excellent water quality in coastal waters nationwide has reached 81.9%. The construction of a beautiful China is constantly taking new steps, and the Chinese painting of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature is constantly presenting new highlights.
