The cumulative transaction volume of Guangdong Green Power has exceeded 5.1 billion kilowatt hours

2023-09-13

As of the end of July, Guangdong's green electricity trading volume this year reached nearly 3.6 billion kilowatt hours, approximately 9 times the total social electricity consumption in the first half of the Hengqin Guangdong Macao Deep Cooperation Zone; Calculated based on the annual electricity consumption of 3000 kilowatt hours for a family of three, it is approximately 1.2 million households' annual electricity consumption. At present, the cumulative transaction volume of Guangdong's green power trading has exceeded 5.1 billion kilowatt hours, which is equivalent to saving about 1.84 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 4 million tons. In September 2021, the pilot of green electricity trading in the southern region was officially launched. As a pilot site for green power trading, the number of business entities participating in green power trading in Guangdong has increased from over 10 initially to over 200 this year, involving multiple industries such as metal manufacturing, cement and building materials, energy and chemical, catering, and biomedical. Starting from 2021, Cadbury Candy (Guangzhou) Company, located in the Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, has continued to participate in green power trading. At present, green electricity consumption accounts for 80% of the actual electricity consumption of enterprises, and it is planned to achieve 100% next year. Data shows that enterprises mainly engaged in export trade have a higher enthusiasm for purchasing green electricity. Wanyu Sanxin Electronics Co., Ltd., located in Dongguan, has an annual revenue of 1.8 billion yuan, of which export business accounts for 40%. We found through our investigation that overseas customers value the green electricity consumption of enterprises. "Pang Tianguo, the relevant person in charge of the company, introduced that" green electricity consumption has become a bonus for enterprise exports. "At the beginning of this year, Wanyu Sanxin began to continue participating in green electricity transactions, and currently green electricity accounts for 10% of the actual electricity consumption of enterprises. As a central energy enterprise, Southern Power Grid Guangdong Power Grid Company is also actively participating in green power consumption. In July of this year, the Guangdong Zhuhai Hengqin Power Supply Bureau Line Work Area of China Southern Power Grid used green electricity. 80% of our energy demand for this building will be met through the purchase of green electricity, ensuring that the total carbon reduction is greater than the carbon emissions of the building's operating energy, and achieving full zero carbon energy application. "Li Jianbiao, the technical leader of the zero carbon building project, said," Compared to other buildings of the same scale, it is expected to reduce carbon emissions by nearly 900 tons per year. "According to statistics, in the first half of this year, the trading volume of green electricity in Guangdong increased by about 120 times compared to the entire year of 2021. About 40% of the electricity users participating in the 2022 Guangdong Green Electricity Trading have a green electricity consumption of 5 million kilowatt hours, while over 20% of the users have a green electricity consumption of over 10 million kilowatt hours. "Chen Qing, a specialist at the Development and Research Department of the Guangdong Power Trading Center of China Southern Power Grid, introduced that this indicates that electricity companies are more active in purchasing green electricity, and the awareness of green electricity consumption from all sectors of society is further enhanced. The scale of the green electricity trading market is rapidly expanding. Green electricity trading helps power generation and consumption entities cooperate and achieve win-win results on the road to achieving the "dual carbon" goal. On the one hand, power users purchase green electricity through the market, obtain environmental rights such as green certificates, and enhance the international competitiveness of their products. On the other hand, power generation enterprises obtain additional benefits through environmental premiums based on electricity trading, promoting the sustainable and healthy development of the new energy industry. As of July this year, 42 electricity selling enterprises and 61 power generation enterprises in Guangdong have participated in green power transactions, adding a total of approximately 300 million yuan to the revenue of power generation enterprises. It is understood that in the next step, Guangdong Power Grid will accelerate the development of green power and green certificates, and focus on building a provincial-level green power and green certificate service platform
