The launch of "Flexible Travel" will make it more convenient for personnel to travel between the two regions. Compared to the original regulations of the Cross border Passenger Transport Organization Rules of the Guangzhou Shenzhen Hong Kong High Speed Railway, passengers can only enjoy one free ticket change opportunity 45 minutes before the departure of the train (for Hong Kong departing trains) or 30 minutes before the departure of the train (for mainland departing trains). "Flexible travel" provides more ticket change opportunities for passengers, making the itinerary more flexible. MTR stated that passengers using "flexible travel" to change trains need to choose from the 38 trains departing and ending from West Kowloon Station or Fukuda Station today, which do not include trains with Fukuda Station as the intermediate station. At the same time, after passengers change their train number through the 12306 platform or at the high-speed railway station, the system will automatically allocate seats of the same level as the original train number or "no reserved seats". If passengers are allocated to "no reserved seats", they may need to stand in the designated carriage to board the train. Tickets that have been processed for 'flexible travel' cannot be refunded. On the first day of the launch of 'Flexible Travel', there is an electronic screen in the departure lobby of the West Kowloon High Speed Rail Station in Hong Kong, which introduces passengers to the 'Flexible Travel' handling process. In front of the self-service ticket vending machine, several staff members provide assistance to passengers, and some staff members hold up signs with "flexible travel" information to inform passengers of the relevant services. There is also a "General Ticket Change/Flexible Travel" inquiry desk near the self-service ticket vending machine, where passengers can inquire about ticket change related matters.
