Development of Changjiang Village Dialect

2023-07-13

Starting from Guiyang, drive eastward for more than 60 kilometers. In Panjiang Town, Guiding County, Qiannan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, there is a Changjiang village not on the side of the Yangtze River. In the early years, the transportation in the village was inconvenient, and when the people heard the name of the Yangtze River, they regarded the Luobei River at their doorstep as the Yangtze River. The village was also named "Changjiang Village". It was midsummer, and the asphalt road in the village was verdant with vegetation on both sides. The lush mountains protected the Luobei River, winding northward and rippling with blue waves. The rice fields by the river are growing happily, with waves of rice rising in the wind. It wasn't like this before, "Chen Zhiyu, the deputy secretary of the village party branch, exclaimed of the changes in Changjiang Village that he couldn't imagine. In the 1990s, the vegetation in Changjiang Village was sparse and rocky desertification was severe. During the rainy season, the soil and rock on the mountain would slide down with a clatter. In order to protect the ecology, Changjiang Village has actively promoted the Grain for Green since 2002. "The annual subsidy for Grain for Green is more than 200 yuan per mu, which has lasted for more than 10 years," said Chen Zhiyu. As time goes by, the effect of Grain for Green appears: now the Forest cover of Changjiang Village has exceeded 67%, higher than the provincial average. To guard the green mountains, we must also protect the green waters. After drifting on the Luobei River for half his life, 52 year old Yao Shunlin is dark and thin. At that time, I almost had to go into the water every day and raised six cormorants to catch fish, "Yao Shunlin said. More than 750 households and over 3000 people live in the village, with 11 out of 17 village groups facing the river. Fishing has always been an important source of income for the village. The most difficult time is from October to December every year. In order to earn more money, Yao Shunlin had to row a small boat that only allowed one person to fish along the way from the Luobei River. When he was tired, he lay in the boat and slept on the shore at night. When encountering rapids and dangerous shoals, he had to go ashore and carry a wooden boat to make a detour. The farthest time he drifted was more than 100 kilometers away to the main stream of the Wujiang River. But after a year of hard work, I only earn 20000 to 30000 yuan. In fact, the Luobei River is the upstream section of the Qingshui River, the largest tributary of the Wujiang River on the southern bank of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. At the beginning of 2020, with the implementation of the ten-year fishing ban plan on the Yangtze River, all fishermen in the Luobei River switched to fishing and landed. As of now, the villagers of Changjiang Village have achieved an annual per capita income of over 15000 yuan by participating in rural tourism, planting characteristic industries through fruit forests, and exporting labor services. Nowadays, Yao Shunlin has spared the hardships of living in the open air and has opened a farmhouse, and his income has increased by two or three times compared to when he was fishing. The small wooden boat that had accompanied him for many years was left by the Luobei River, becoming a unique scenery in the mountains and rivers. Green water and green mountains not only enhance the happiness and sense of achievement of the Yangtze River villagers, but also attract many people from other villages to live and work in peace and contentment. Peng Zhongyuan is from Baoshan Village next door. He came here in 2018 to invest 900000 yuan to build an aquaculture base because he values the good ecology and development potential of Changjiang Village. After several years of development, his business has expanded from aquaculture to various fields such as catering and entertainment, fruit forest planting, and chicken and duck farming, with a net income of over 100000 yuan per year. Previously, transportation was inconvenient, and the Luobei River was a vital route for villagers to travel. Nowadays, bridges, highways, and high-speed railways have been built, and ferries are few and far between, "said Chen Zhiyu. In recent years, Changjiang Village has made great efforts to renovate the village's roads, bridges, etc; The completion of the Guiding North railway station of the high-speed railway has shortened the drive from Guiyang to the village to less than half an hour.
