Ni Xiangming, the deputy squad leader of the 4th Squad on the surface position, was fearless in the face of danger, leading soldier Zhou Yuande to cleverly use fortifications and craters as support, constantly changing positions to throw grenades at the enemy, and continuously repelling several small-scale attacks. With all the bullets running out, Ni Xiangming fired his last grenade and died with the enemy. When the enemy approached the tunnel, Liu Zuocai, who was heavily injured, organized the wounded to repel the enemy's multiple attacks and ultimately defended the tunnel. At dawn on the 23rd, our army's main force bravely counterattacked, recaptured the surface position and held on to the old bald mountain. In this battle, four squadrons of soldiers fought fiercely for four days and nights, repelling 13 enemy attacks more than ten times their own, annihilating more than 500 enemy soldiers, and firmly holding onto the strategic point of Old Bald Mountain. After the war, the headquarters of the Volunteer Army awarded a banner to the 4th class of "Level 1 Hero Class Adhering to the 202.9 Heights". For 71 years, this flag has become the soul and root of the hearts and feet of generations of soldiers from Class 4.
