Beautiful China | Summer Maqu Wetland

2023-07-07

Maqu County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, is located at the northeast edge of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. Covering an area of 5.62 million mu, the Maqu wetland is one of the most well preserved wetlands in the world, known as the "kidney of the Yellow River". As an important water conservation area and ecological functional area in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, Maqu County has continued to implement the integrated protection and restoration project of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grass and sand in recent years. Through measures such as fence protection of key marsh wetlands, restoration of degraded wetland vegetation, and returning grazing to wetlands, the wetland population has continuously increased, and the water conservation capacity and ecological function have further improved. The following is the scenery of Awanchang Wetland in Maqu County (taken on July 6, with UAV photo). (New News Agency)
