At the 2023 Shanghai World Mobile Communication Conference, 5G's applications in personal consumption and industries such as mines, ports, and factories were showcased in a concentrated manner. Experts believe that China's 5G development has entered a critical period of large-scale development and will enter the second half. It is still necessary to moderately advance deployment and consolidate the foundation of infrastructure, accelerate the diffusion of application scale, and promote ecological integration and innovation. Currently, China has built the world's largest and most advanced broadband network infrastructure to solidly promote large-scale applications. The number of 5G mobile phone users reached 651 million, accounting for 38.1% of mobile phone users. In terms of technological innovation, we have created a relatively complete industrial chain of 5G systems, chips, terminals, and instruments. The 5G technology capability continues to break through, and the capabilities of large uplink bandwidth, network slicing, and edge computing continue to improve. In terms of integrated applications, 5G applications have been integrated into 60 out of 97 national economic categories, with a cumulative number of application cases exceeding 50000. In particular, 5G application in the industrial field has gradually penetrated into the core links of production and operation, and 5G+emergency treatment system has been built and used in more than 70 Prefecture-level city. The proportion of 5G applications among the top 50 coal enterprises in China is as high as 72%. Wang Zhiqin, Vice President of the China Academy of Information and Communications, stated that China's 5G network construction follows the principle of moderate advancement, leading the world in network construction, effectively supporting the scale of 5G applications and the innovative development of the digital economy. As of May this year, the total number of 5G base stations accounted for 25.3% of the total number of mobile base stations, achieving "County to County 5G". In the Metaverse area of China Mobile's booth, innovative products such as cloud augmented reality, video RBT, and Star Plaza supported by 5G network have attracted much attention.
