On July 5th, the world's first Yangtze River finless porpoise, "Taotao," successfully bred in a fully artificial environment, celebrated its 18th birthday. According to experts from the Institute of Aquatics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, based on indicators such as eating, behavior, community relationships, and blood physiology, this finless porpoise is currently in good health. For many years, the Institute of Aquatics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has collaborated with multiple domestic research and protection institutions to continuously explore the artificial breeding of Yangtze River finless porpoises. At present, the Baiji Porpoise House of the Institute of Aquatics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences raises 11 Yangtze River finless porpoises, of which 4 are bred and survive in an artificial environment.
