Outside the city, there is a bustling traffic; Inside the city, there is a lingering ancient charm. Stroll through the old urban area of Kuqa City in Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang. There are endless stories in every street and lane here, and every building here has a thick historical memory. Kuqa, known as "Qiuci" in ancient times, is a beautiful oasis inlaid at the southern foot of the central Tianshan Mountains and the northern edge of the Tarim Basin, and a shining pearl on the ancient Silk Road. As a national historical and cultural city, Kuche has five historical and cultural blocks, including Gestan and Saksak, and more than 180 households with over 80 years of ancient dwellings. How to retain historical memories? How to make the protection and utilization of ancient cities complement each other? The reporter recently conducted an interview in Kuche to understand the new practices of protecting historical and cultural blocks, and to experience the new charm emanating from the millennium old city. Saving the Old House Highlights the Word "Original" and Enters the Old City of Kuqa in the Restan Historical and Cultural District. Technical personnel are guiding carpenters to carry out repair and protection work on ancient residential buildings. Some craftsmen use wheat straw mud to repair the walls, while others use chisels to carve geometric patterns on the wood, making them busy. After repairs by craftsmen, some of the originally sloping beams and collapsed walls of ancient dwellings have been restored, revealing a fresh and rustic style. The newly renovated Wumayan Asimu residence stands quietly on the street. The residential area has a width of four rooms and a depth of two rooms. Above the eaves and rafters of the front wall, flying rafters are used, and the eaves are far and wide and elegant. The front cushion plate has been carved through, and the rhombus windows of the house complement the carving in the front. The Wumayan Asimu ancient residential building adopts a clean official style lifting beam structure system in the first room before going deep, with clear relationships between purlins and beams. It is one of the few examples of Han style beam frame buildings in the Kuqa ancient residential area. The corner columns, eaves, and roof of the room after going deep adopt local practices, and the towering second floor columns can be made into wooden ribs, which are pigeon cages and supported by apricot trunks. It is an organic combination of Han style architecture and local architecture. The house has a history of over 130 years, It fully reflects the exchange, interaction, and integration of diverse ethnic cultures Introduction by Ma Haojie, the person in charge of Beijing Qingcheng Ruixian Digital Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., who is responsible for the renovation of residential buildings. Ma Haojie said that this "action to save the old houses" innovated the Protected mode. Based on the principle of "repairing the old as the old", the house was repaired with "raw materials, raw technology, prototype system, and original methods", highlighting the "original flavor", retaining the cultural background of the ancient dwellings, and restoring the ancient style and charm. At present, the construction area of ancient residential buildings in Kuqa City is approximately 836000 square meters. With the passage of time, some of the buildings have become dilapidated and even face the risk of collapse. To ensure the protection of old neighborhoods and houses, Kuqa City has launched the "Save Old Houses Action". The first phase of the project selects 35 cultural relics and historical buildings for repair and reinforcement. Based on different factors such as its own value, cultural environment, and historical status, we will adopt different restoration methods for ancient dwellings with a long history and rich cultural heritage. By formulating protection plans and maintenance and protection plans, we will establish a set of scientific standards for maintenance and protection. "Gu Shengning, a staff member of the Kuche City Historical and Cultural City Office, told reporters. Cultural heritage highlights the word "live". In the scorching summer, tourists come to visit the "Kucha Alley" in Kuqa City's Saksak Street and Kuqai Airik Community
