The "Regulations on the Protection of Traditional Style Buildings in Guangzhou" (hereinafter referred to as the "Regulations") will be officially implemented on July 1, 2023. The "Regulations" have a total of 18 articles, focusing on the protection and utilization of traditional style buildings with a focus on "small incisions, standing upright, and truly effective", improving the system and regulations for the repair and management of traditional style buildings, and providing a solid legal guarantee for the protection and utilization of traditional style buildings. As one of the first pilot cities for the protection and utilization of historical buildings in China, Guangzhou has a large number of traditional style buildings. Currently, a total of 1206 traditional style buildings have been recognized and announced in the city, making it the largest and most widely protected building in Guangzhou besides immovable cultural relics.
