Building a thriving force for the future together - written at the 100 day countdown to the opening of the Hangzhou Asian Games

2023-06-15

A holy land of civilization, we will go to the Asian Games together. Fully prepared to respond to eager expectations, welcoming guests from all directions with a sincere smile. On June 15th, there are still 100 days left until the opening of the Hangzhou Asian Games. 100 days later, the light of the Asian Games will illuminate the banks of Xizi Lake; In 100 days, Asian athletes will join hands in singing a heartwarming song towards the future. The Hangzhou Asian Games is the largest and highest level international comprehensive sports event held in China after the successful convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. It has attracted the attention of the whole country and the world. From the 1990 Beijing Asian Games to the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games and this year's Hangzhou Asian Games, China's Comprehensive National Power and the concept of hosting the games have undergone profound changes. What will soon emerge in front of Asia and the world is an elegant and intelligent Hangzhou, a thriving and confident Zhejiang, and a more open and inclusive China. By the Xizi Lake and the Qiantang River, Hangzhou, which was once praised by Marco Polo as "the most beautiful and luxurious city in the world", has sent a warm invitation to the whole of Asia, and will strive to present an Asian Games pageant with "Chinese characteristics, Asian style and splendor". Sprint! Since the successful bidding in September 2015, Hangzhou and five co hosting cities including Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jinhua, Shaoxing, and Huzhou have always adhered to the concept of "green, intelligent, frugal, and civilized" in hosting the competition, followed the requirements of "simplicity, safety, and excellence" in hosting the competition, and steadily moved towards the goal of "hosting a good conference and improving a city". Night fell, and the lanterns lit up. Standing on the "city balcony" and looking towards the south bank of Qiantang River, the two venues of Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium and Natatorium are like a colorful butterfly flapping its wings. The Natatorium of the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center can accommodate 6000 people. It has five pools, including a competition pool, a diving pool and a warm-up pool. It will hold the swimming, diving and Synchronized swimming events of the Hangzhou Asian Games, and will win 53 gold medals. It is the venue that has produced the most gold medals in the Hangzhou Asian Games. The water storage capacity of this venue exceeds 10000 tons, and the pool water can still be kept clean and clear even without being changed for years. Zhang Rui, a staff member of the Natatorium of the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center, said that while seemingly "no water change", they have been replenishing new water all the time, "just like human blood, they are constantly flowing, processing and updating to ensure the clarity of water quality". The Secretary General of the Asian Swimming Federation, Taha Suleiman Al Kishri, praised the unique design and advanced intelligent equipment of the venue, calling it an "architectural miracle". "I believe it will be one of the best swimming competition venues in the history of the Asian Games. Hangzhou and Zhejiang are committed to providing first-class venue facilities, smooth event organization, and thoughtful service guarantees to help athletes fully unleash themselves on the field and demonstrate a higher level of competitiveness. Thomas Konetsk, president of the International Canoeing Federation, said of the Fuyang Water Sports Center: "There are two circuits, namely, the still water event and the Canoe slalom, which is one of the few venues in the world that can combine multiple competition events to organize large-scale international events
