On June 13th, the reporter learned from the Municipal Affairs Department of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government that in order to promote technological exchange and cooperation in food safety between Macau and mainland China and Hong Kong, the Municipal Affairs Department of the Macao Special Administrative Region held the "2023 World Food Safety Day and Food Safety Expert Lecture" on June 13th, inviting representatives from food safety regulatory departments in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau to discuss the application of food safety technology and the promotion of food safety standards More than 400 representatives from the food industry, relevant associations, academic institutions and government departments of Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area attended the in-depth exchanges on food market development and other issues. In the lecture session for representatives of the catering and related industry chambers of commerce, a keynote speech was given on the latest developed smart new rapid screening and testing technology and related food safety standards in mainland China, introducing how the application of related technologies can assist the government and industry in better implementing food safety standards. Lei Yi, Deputy Director of Guangdong Food Inspection Institute, shared the work and vision of the food market integration process in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. Dr. Yang Ziqiao, consultant of the Centre for Food Safety of the Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, introduced the difficulties and challenges faced by Hong Kong in formulating, implementing and promoting food safety standards. In the segment where representatives of citizens, organizations, and academic institutions were the main participants, Yu Hangyu, Deputy Researcher of the Standards Office of the National Food Safety Risk Assessment Center, introduced the construction and progress of the national food safety standard system. Zhang Guida, Director of the Food Safety Department of the Municipal Council of Macao, shared Macao's food safety standards with the topic of "How to correctly understand Macao's food safety standards". The MSAR Municipal Commission said that it expected to hold expert lectures, build a food safety exchange platform, promote the interconnection of food safety information between the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, promote closer cooperation between departments, enable the industry and the public to better grasp the latest trends in food safety, and help the coordinated development of the food market in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
