How can home facilities make it more reassuring and comfortable for the elderly to use? Recently, the Urban Construction Department of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development released the "Guidelines for Urban Home-based Aging Renovation" (hereinafter referred to as the "Guidelines"), which focuses on the needs of urban elderly people for home-based aging renovation. 47 key renovation points have been formed in seven aspects: universal renovation, household space, living (living) hall, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, balcony, etc., providing a systematic, simple, and effective solution for urban home-based aging renovation A feasible transformation plan and technical path. According to data, as of the end of last year, the number of elderly people aged 60 and above in China exceeded 280 million, accounting for 19.8% of the total population. The need for home based aging rehabilitation is even more urgent. Based on the differentiated needs of the elderly, the "Guidance Manual" divides the renovation content into two categories: basic and enhanced. The basic renovation content mainly focuses on meeting the basic living needs, safety, and convenience needs of the elderly; The content of enhanced transformation mainly meets the needs of elderly people for improved living, focusing on enriching the supply of home services and improving the quality of life. Ensuring the safety and convenience of basic behavioral activities for the elderly is a common demand for urban home adaptation and aging transformation. Based on these requirements, the "Guidance Manual" proposes relevant points for universal transformation, including streamline planning, residential flooring, component products, and other aspects. For example, in the universal renovation of residential aging, the behavior flow line should be reasonably planned to ensure smooth passage from the kitchen to the restaurant, and from the bedroom to the bathroom. In addition, the entire house should have no height difference or threshold, and the existing height difference should be assisted by setting up safety facilities such as slope aids and handrails for passage. The width of all doors should meet the requirements for wheelchair or walker access, etc. Among them, the basic renovation mainly involves height difference treatment, indoor threshold treatment, installation of handrails, anti slip treatment, etc; In terms of upgrading, it includes leveling and hardening, installing anti-collision corner protectors or strips, and widening the door. The "Guide Manual" provides a specific renovation plan diagram for the aging adaptation of the bedroom. Basic renovation includes installing bedside guardrails or grab bars, adding lighting switches at the bedside, and installing emergency call devices. The upgraded renovation includes configuring aging resistant wardrobes, floor anti slip, setting up nursing beds, and installing anti bedsore mattresses. For bathroom renovation, consideration should be given to the spatial needs of elderly people for behaviors such as toileting, washing, bathing, nursing, and transportation, in order to minimize the spatial factors that cause elderly people to fall. In response, the "Guidance Manual" proposes basic transformation points such as changing squatting toilets to sitting toilets, setting up shower curtains, configuring shower chairs, installing grab bars, and setting up emergency call devices. In terms of enhanced transformation, it includes dry and wet separation, toilet renovation, and configuration of heating equipment. For kitchen renovation, consideration should be given to the spatial needs of elderly people for storage, washing, operation, cooking, transportation, and other behaviors, in order to eliminate spatial barriers for elderly people to carry out cooking operations. Therefore, in order to adapt to the aging of the kitchen, a suitable height of the operating table should be selected to reduce bending; Light strips can be installed under the cabinet to provide auxiliary lighting; Replace the automatic flameout gas stove, install smoke alarm, gas alarm, and water accumulation alarm. Promoting the construction of the basic elderly care service system is an important task in addressing the aging population.
