During berthing, Qi Jiguang organized five ship opening activities, and nearly 1000 people, including the Chinese Embassy in Brunei, Brunei military, local citizens, Overseas Chinese, and Chinese funded institutions, boarded the ship to visit. On the evening of the 5th, Qi Jiguang lit all the lights and held a grand reception on the deck. More than 200 people from both Chinese and Chinese sides attended. On the morning of the 6th, Princess Masna, the Ambassador-at-large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Foreign relations of Brunei, and her husband boarded the ship for a visit and exchange, accompanied by Ambassador Xiao Jianguo and military attache Dai Qilin. Qi Jiguang Ship, named after Qi Jiguang, a national hero of the Ming Dynasty, was officially listed in February 2017.
