'Smart Wheat Production' Makes Field Management Clear and Clear

2023-06-06

The wind blows the wheat waves, and the fields are golden. On June 5th, in the wheat field of Danji Town, Tongshan District, Xuzhou City, the intelligent yield measuring harvester is accelerating its operation, harvesting while measuring yield. The large screen on the field ridge generates a real-time spatial distribution map of the wheat yield in the field, providing a "digital white map" for the next season's planting. The "Maiqing Inspection Robot" on the side is equipped with multiple sensors such as multispectral, depth cameras, LiDAR, and visible light, which move back and forth. It acts like a diligent and professional field sentry, not only capable of 24-hour intelligent inspection, but also accurately sensing the field environment and crop growth. This vivid modern busy farming scene comes from the application site of intelligent wheat farming technology by Professor Cao Weixing's team from the Smart Agriculture Research Institute of Nanjing Agricultural University. When it comes to the role of mastering the spatial distribution map of wheat yield in wheat cultivation, Cao Qiang, associate professor of the Smart Agriculture Innovation Team at Nanjing Agricultural University, introduced that with this map, people can accurately grasp where the yield is high and where the yield is low in the field, which is convenient for later analysis of the reasons for industrial differences, generating agronomic management prescriptions, and achieving precise management of wheat fields. Cao Qiang told reporters that after accumulating long-term crop growth data, the intelligent yield measuring harvester can also predict the yield of fields in different environments and locations based on different climatic conditions, providing a basis for later cultivation and management plans. What is the main source of data for precise management? Professor Tian Yongchao from the Smart Agriculture Innovation Team of Nanjing Agricultural University introduced that the data comes from the two core technologies in smart wheat farming technology - digital wheat field technology and wheat remote sensing monitoring technology. Among them, the goal of "digital wheat field" is "one field, one code", which is equivalent to establishing accurate digital archives for each field. By scanning the code, one can know whose field it is, how large it is, what variety it is planted, how it grows, how its historical yield is, as well as environmental information related to the soil, climate, and so on, The Smart Agriculture Innovation Team of Nanjing Agricultural University has established field "digital archives" for 25 demonstration bases of modern agriculture (rice and wheat) industry technology systems in Jiangsu. The remote sensing monitoring technology for wheat conditions utilizes a three-dimensional monitoring platform of space, sky, and earth, relying on monitoring instruments, the Internet of Things, drones, satellite remote sensing, and application systems at multiple scales such as fields, parks, and regions, to achieve accurate prediction and evaluation of wheat growth and productivity. "Tian Yongchao introduced. Zhang Zhengdong, Vice President of the Modern Agriculture Research Institute of Jiangsu Agricultural Reclamation and Development Co., Ltd., stated that smart wheat farming technology covers the entire process of real-time information collection, intelligent management decision-making, precise farming and harvesting operations, and intelligent technology application services in wheat production management. It provides a successful model that can be grafted, transplanted, and promoted for the application and promotion of large-scale farms. Guo Tiancai, a professor at the College of Agriculture of Henan Agricultural University and deputy leader of the Wheat Expert Guidance Group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said, "This on-site observation has shown us the groundbreaking research results of agricultural technology, the demonstration template of agricultural modernization, the model of agricultural science and technology workers adhering to the 'four aspects', and the beautiful prospects of future agriculture." Chen Fadi, President of Nanjing Agricultural University, believes that, Smart farming technology in typical areas such as Tongshan in Xuzhou
