According to the "Management Measures of Guangdong Province on Hong Kong Motor Vehicles Entering and Exiting the Mainland through the Zhuhai Highway Port of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge", "Hong Kong Motor Vehicles Going North" will start accepting applications from Hong Kong motor vehicle owners from 9:00 am on June 1, 2023. From 00:00 am on July 1, after approval and appointment by relevant departments, they can drive through the Zhuhai Highway Port of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge into Guangdong. The application for 'Hong Kong Vehicle North Up' is jointly approved by Guangdong and Hong Kong. The first round of applicants will register for computer lottery through the designated website of 'Hong Kong Vehicle North Up' from May 29th to 30th, and the lottery results will be announced on May 31st. Winners will submit their applications from June 1st to 10th according to the designated time. There were a total of 1600 numbers allocated for the first round of drawing. To ensure the orderly implementation of the "Hong Kong Vehicle North Up" policy, the governments of Guangdong and Hong Kong have agreed to set a limit on the number of applications accepted. Applicants who have obtained the "Hong Kong Vehicle North Up" license issued by the Transport Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and relevant departments in the mainland can book a designated date for travel for the next month through the "Hong Kong Vehicle North Up" official website on the 15th of each month. The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, recently stated that "Hong Kong vehicles heading north" facilitate Hong Kong residents to drive through the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge port to Guangdong Province for short-term business, family visits or tourism. It is another important milestone in promoting further connectivity and promoting economic integration and development in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. The Border Inspection Department of Zhuhai Entry Exit Border Inspection Station, Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge Border Inspection Station, introduced that currently, the 44 small car channels at the port have completed 5 optimizations and 10 upgrade tests, all of which are normal and usable. Once the policy is implemented, they can be used immediately and operate efficiently. According to the administrative measures, Hong Kong car owners can apply for a temporary entry vehicle license as long as they are over 18 years old, have a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents to the mainland, and are registered in their own names with one Hong Kong motor vehicle (a non operating small passenger vehicle with a length of less than 6 meters and a driver's seat number of no more than 8 seats). Hong Kong motor vehicles may enter and leave the mainland multiple times during the validity period of the temporary entry motor vehicle license, but their stay period shall not exceed the validity period of the temporary entry motor vehicle license. After each entry into the mainland, their continuous stay in the mainland shall not exceed 30 days, and their cumulative stay in the mainland shall not exceed 180 days per year. (New News Agency)
