According to HKUST, the soybean seeds carried this time were jointly researched and independently developed by Lin Hanming and researcher Zhang Guohong from the Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, including three salt and drought tolerant soybean varieties (Longhuang 1, Longhuang 2, and Longhuang 3). This variety has been handed over to farmers in Gansu for free since 2016. Lin Hanming welcomed the soybean seeds into the air with both excitement and emotion, and looked forward to their smooth return. He stated that this is a new milestone in agricultural science and technology research in Hong Kong, further deepening research cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong.
