Low Earth Satellite Internet of Things: Full Coverage of Space, Sky, Sea, and Maintaining Communication without Lost Connection

2023-05-15

In recent years, the industrial technology foundation of "Internet of Things" has been relatively mature, and the industrial scale has been continuously expanding. Due to the fact that satellite communication can provide a low-cost network coverage solution for areas with relatively weak infrastructure, there is a global frenzy of building low orbit satellite networks. Since 2020, the SpaceX satellite chain program has entered a period of intensive construction, with a total of over 4100 satellites launched. It is reported that there are over 74000 satellites that have not yet been launched globally. Many cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Anhui, Henan, Sichuan, and Chongqing, have introduced policies to support the development of satellite internet related industries. At the eighth "China Aerospace Day" event, Beijing Guodian High tech Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Guodian High tech) made its debut with the "Tianqi Constellation" low orbit satellite IoT system, attracting widespread attention from all sectors. As the first low orbit satellite IoT constellation in China to be put into operation, the "Tianqi Constellation" is composed of 38 low orbit satellites covering the world, and its ground communication terminal can upload short message information from all over the world to the Tianqi satellite, transmit the data back to the ground station through the satellite, and then push it to the customer platform after big data calculation. Whether in urban centers, deserts or Gobi, mountainous areas or forests, whether it is sunny or harsh weather, whether in China or abroad, the "Apocalypse Constellation" satellite communication can be unobstructed, providing global users with "space, sky, sea, and four in one" satellite narrowband IoT data communication application services. More importantly, with advanced technology that fills the gap in China, "Tianqi Constellation" provides low-cost, low-power, miniaturized, and high-capacity satellite IoT communication products to global users, truly enabling satellite communication to enter thousands of households and businesses. It is reported that the "Tianqi Constellation" satellite IoT application platform currently covers 8 major industries and 16 fields, including the State Grid, containers, marine ranching, coal hydrology, smart agriculture, smart forestry, ecological environment, and oil pipelines. In response to the pain points of information monitoring data transmission that cannot be solved in the past blind spots of signal coverage, a series of mature solutions have been formed, such as millions of tower foundation monitoring Ice monitoring of transmission lines covering over 100000 kilometers, monitoring of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grass, sand, ice, crop growth, environmental protection, etc. At the same time, "Apocalypse Constellation" has also developed standardized and multi industry special communication terminals. The products have been typed and mass produced, and simultaneously promote the application of personal user terminals and special fields, such as the standardized terminal "Apocalypse" applied to Industrial Internet, personal emergency rescue terminal, Apocalypse Gateway, global walkie talkie, mobile phone companion, satellite communication wearable devices, etc. Taking personal emergency rescue terminals as an example, different from the dependence of daily mobile phone signals on ground base stations, the communication method of direct connection of mobile phone terminals to satellites allows individual users to achieve information exchange and send out rescue signals even in situations such as desert unmanned areas, maritime distress, earthquakes, etc., in an environment without ground network signal coverage. Moreover, after the successful networking of 38 low Earth orbit satellites in the "Tianqi Constellation", the terminal power consumption will decrease to below 100 milliwatts
