The reporter learned from the Guangdong Provincial Government press conference held on the 10th that the 2023 Overseas Chinese Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Conference is scheduled to be held in Jiangmen, Guangdong from May 16th to 18th, and online venues will be set up in 11 countries and regions simultaneously. As of now, approximately 700 guest representatives from 90 countries and regions have been invited to attend the conference. Pang Guomei, Director of the Guangdong Provincial Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, introduced that these invited guests are influential representatives or outstanding figures in various fields. They are invited to come to Guangdong to discuss major plans and seek common development, and to make the conference an innovative platform that gathers the strength of overseas Chinese at home and abroad, as well as compatriots from Hong Kong and Macao. In recent years, Guangdong has been striving to promote the utilization of overseas Chinese resources in various regions of the province, with the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Conference as the leading force, and local overseas Chinese business activities such as the World Merchant Conference, the Overseas Chinese Industry Fair, and the China (Shenzhen) Overseas Returnees Entrepreneurship Conference as auxiliary wings, to help create a new strategic pivot for development. Taking advantage of the hosting of this conference, Jiangmen actively leverages the unique resource advantages of the overseas Chinese hometown, deeply promotes the "Empowerment of Overseas Chinese Capital" project, creates and enhances the four major functions of "cultural exchange, economic and trade cooperation, safeguarding rights and interests, and overseas Chinese affairs think tank", and accelerates the construction of "an important platform for cultural exchange and cooperation among overseas Chinese". This conference adopts a combination of "offline+online" main and sub formats. The online venues are located in Malaysia, Thailand, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Panama, Peru, Venezuela, as well as Hong Kong and Macau, China. The conference will hold ceremonies related to "Overseas Chinese Assisting Guangdong's High Quality Development", a "9+2" promotion conference for the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and speeches by outstanding overseas Chinese.
