Jiumi Cicheng took out ancient books and prepared for census registration (taken on April 19th). Jin Meiduoji, a reporter from Xinhua News Agency, took a picture of thousands of ancient books in various fields of Tibet on the scripture shelf in Zhunzzengpochang (Pazhang, meaning palace in Tibetan) in Norbulingka, western suburb of Lhasa, Tibet. At present, the main work of the ancient book census team in Norbulingka Management Office where Jiumi Cicheng is located is to conduct census and registration of ancient books by handwriting and computer entry. Kumi Cicheng was born in Zabao County, Shannan City in 1967. In 1986, during a historical and cultural research conducted by experts from the Tibet Autonomous Region Academy of Social Sciences in Zhabao County, Jiumi Cicheng, as a Tibetan assistant, first followed the experts to contact Sanskrit. In 1991, Jiumi Cicheng went to the Advanced Buddhist Institute of the Chinese Tibetan Language Department in Beijing to study Sanskrit systematically. In 2006, Jumi Cicheng published his Sanskrit Lanza and Urdu calligraphy, detailing the historical origins and characteristics of the Lanza and Urdu styles. In the same year, the Office of the Leading Group for the Protection of the Tibetan Beiyejing invited Kumi Cicheng to participate in the protection of the Beiyejing, mainly responsible for repairing damaged scriptures. The palm leaf scripture refers to the scriptures written on the leaves of Bedoro, which are mostly written in Sanskrit. In addition to Buddhist classics, it also involves literature, art, philosophy, medicine, astronomy and other aspects. It is a very important reference to understand the cultural transmission and history of South Asia and Central Asia. More than 60% of the surviving Beiye scriptures are found in Tibet. In the following six years, Kumi Cicheng and other experts conducted comprehensive surveys throughout Tibet based on records from various Tibetan, Chinese, and English literature on the spread of the Beiye Sutra, the activities of translating Buddhist scriptures, and the footprints of translators. The total journey reached 17000 kilometers. After completing the survey and restoration of the Beiyejing, Kumi Cicheng continued to devote himself to the restoration of ancient books and persistently completed the task of repairing and surveying multiple Tibetan literature. In 2017, Jiumi Cicheng was selected as one of the first batch of "Tibetan Craftsmen". Kumi Cicheng (middle) and colleagues took out ancient books for census registration (taken on April 19th).
