The overall number of liver cancer patients in China has slightly decreased, and attention should be paid to fatty liver disease

April 15th to April 21st is the National Cancer Prevention and Control Awareness Week. The National Cancer Center recently released an analysis of the prevalence of malignant tumors in China, which showed that the incidence rate of liver cancer, known as the "king of cancer", ranked fourth, and the mortality rate ranked second, and the incidence rate of men was significantly higher than that of women. Lu Wei, Chairman of the Professional Committee of Oncology and Hepatology of the Chinese Anti Cancer Association: In the past decade, due to the massive vaccination of hepatitis B B vaccine in our country, the incidence rate of hepatitis B has been declining. About 95% of liver cancer in our country is based on hepatitis B. Because the incidence rate of hepatitis B has declined, the overall number of liver cancer patients in our country has declined slightly. Almost ten years ago, the incidence of liver cancer in our country once reached over 50% of the world's total, but now it has dropped to 46%, indicating significant progress. But after all, the crowd is still huge. Experts say that the liver is a very important organ in the human body and is compared to the chemical factory of the human body. Many important substances in the human body are synthesized in the liver. In addition to participating in metabolism and detoxification, the liver also plays an important immune function. The mechanism of liver cancer is related to various factors, among which the main reason is the long-term damage and stimulation of liver cells, such as viral infection, alcohol and fat deposition, which are currently known. People with hepatitis B virus or hepatitis C virus infection, excessive drinking, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, long-term consumption of food contaminated with aflatoxin, cirrhosis caused by various other reasons, and people with a family history of liver cancer are high-risk groups for liver cancer, and men over 40 years old are more at risk. High risk populations should undergo liver ultrasound combined with serum alpha fetoprotein testing at least once every six months. Pay attention to fatty liver to avoid liver cancer. Speaking of fatty liver, everyone is familiar with it. Data shows that the prevalence of fatty liver disease in adults in China has reached 30% to 40%. Due to the lack of any external symptoms, fatty liver is often overlooked by everyone. Experts point out that in recent years, with changes in diet and lifestyle habits, liver cancer caused by fatty liver disease is gradually increasing. In the early stages of fatty liver, there is only slight liver cell damage, feeling painless and not itchy, and liver function testing is also normal. If left untreated and continue to develop, more and more fat will cover the liver, leading to inflammatory changes in the liver, known as steatohepatitis. Inflammation persists and stimulates the continuous proliferation of fibrous tissue in the liver, gradually leading to fatty liver cirrhosis. If the patient is also accompanied by diabetes, obesity, etc., the body's immune function will decline, resulting in the immune system unable to inhibit the production of tumors, which will lead to canceration and fatty liver related liver cancer. Not all fatty liver diseases will develop into liver cancer, but timely intervention and treatment are still necessary. (New News Agency)
