In June 2022, the tobacco monopoly department of Dantu District, Zhenjiang City received a report stating that there was a supermarket in the village selling counterfeit cigarettes, including "Hard China, Soft China, and Golden Leaf." No matter what brand or grade of cigarettes, they said they were obtained through internal channels and offered discounted prices. Following this clue, law enforcement officers seized 209 cigarettes of unknown origin from 12 varieties in the supermarket operated by Yang (to be dealt with separately). In October 2019, he learned from his friends that selling counterfeit cigarettes had low investment and high profits, earning several hundred thousand yuan per year.
