On April 22nd, on the third day of the third lunar month, the 13th "Lizhiwan New Xiguan" Folk Culture Activity in Liwan District, Guangzhou, titled "March 3rd, Shangsi Spring Return and Welcome to Guangzhou", was held in Liwan Lake Park. This year, Liwan District innovatively presents the traditional customs of the Shangsi Festival in a form that young people enjoy today, allowing citizens and tourists to experience traditional culture and the charm of Liwan Xiguan in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The park is full of verdant greenery, with women dressed in traditional Chinese clothing accompanying them for a green outing in the park. Visitors are often presented with flowers and herbs, presenting a scene of ancient Fuxi. Entering the east gate of Liwan Lake Park, along the lawn, various outdoor tea seats with unique natural charm such as square framed gauze curtains and bamboo lanterns come into view. The tea art performance under the beautiful tea pavilion also attracts the audience to stop and take photos. Citizens and tourists are present to taste over 100 types of tea, including black tea, yellow tea, and white tea, and participate in the selection of "Most Beautiful Tea Artists" and "Most Beautiful Tea Mats" to experience the small "Tea Expo" on the lawn. The long table, a giant device made of dragon boat oars, and a swallow shaped stage symbolizing "return" were also unveiled. On the same day, a long table banquet was held, and Pantang and its surrounding neighbors and artists gathered together to inherit the custom of "gathering family members, doing business, praying for harvest, and ensuring peace". Image source: Guangzhou Liwan released a series of delicious dishes along with the host's promotion and introduction, such as big pot vegetables, Cantonese cold fruit platters... multiple dishes with unique Xiguan characteristics awaken the memories of Xiguan's tongue and the nostalgia of Lingnan. On site, a Xiguan cuisine exhibition booth was also set up, inviting folk customs experts, food experts, and others to tell the stories of traditional folk culture and Xiguan cuisine, polishing the golden signboard of "food in Guangzhou, taste in Xiguan". Eating shepherd's purse boiled eggs on March 3rd is a custom of the Chinese nation. At the event, 333 "shepherd's purse eggs" symbolizing good intentions are distributed to citizens and tourists. The long table banquet program is presented through a combination of contemporary and traditional methods, and is even more applauded. The melodious dance "Treading Song" from the Northern and Southern Dynasties is portrayed by contemporary dancers using huge "oars" as scenes. The saltwater song "Good Guangzhou" brought by Xie Diying, the inheritor of the provincial intangible cultural heritage of saltwater songs, and the Guangdong Han opera "Moonlight Dissolves on the Path" presented by national first-class actor Huang Lihua are all filled with cultural charm. The organizer also released a variety of travel check-in routes with the theme of "March 3rd", including outings, food, and tea making, allowing more people to experience the beauty of Xiguan cuisine and Lingnan culture.
