On the afternoon of April 18th, a batch of export goods such as transformers and audio amplifier modules completed customs clearance procedures, aviation security checks, and palletizing at the "Dongguan Hong Kong International Airport Center" in the Humen Port Comprehensive Bonded Zone of Dongguan. They departed from Dongguan Port on a dedicated ship and directly arrived at the Xianggang Airport Terminal before being loaded onto an airplane and shipped to the world. This marks the official operation of the Airport Center project, which is the first cross-border sea air intermodal transportation project in China to directly reach the airside of an airport. The Airport Center project is a mutually beneficial and innovative cross-border trade channel jointly explored by the Dongguan Municipal Government, Hong Kong Airport Authority, and Huangpu Customs to meet the increasingly urgent demand for air transportation in high-value industries such as electronic manufacturing in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. This project has achieved the extension of Hong Kong airport related functions and services to Dongguan, which will drive "manufacturing in the Bay Area" to reach the world. In the past, export goods from mainland China were sent to the world through Hong Kong airport, requiring customs clearance procedures to be completed first. Then, they were transported by road through the Shenzhen port and transported to the Hong Kong airport cargo terminal. After conducting security checks at the Hong Kong airport cargo terminal, they were loaded onto the aircraft's container according to certain specifications (commonly known as "pallets"), and finally loaded into the aircraft cargo hold. After the official operation of the Airport Center, mainland export goods can go through customs clearance procedures, complete aviation safety inspections, and palletization in a one-stop manner at the Airport Center. They can be loaded and shipped to Hong Kong Airport directly by sea to the world. Cao Haosheng, General Manager of Huahai Technology Logistics Supply Chain (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., told reporters that after the establishment of the airport center, the relevant links can be completed in Dongguan. During the trial operation phase of the airport center, more than 30 foreign trade enterprises have chosen to declare inbound and outbound goods at the airport center. After the official operation, it is expected that the operating costs and cargo handling time will be reduced by nearly 30% respectively. (New News Agency)
