The reporter learned from the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences) that the "Cross Cultural Forum" sponsored by the Institute was recently held in Beijing. Wang Zhongyi, chief editor of the Asia Pacific Communication Center of the China Foreign Language and Culture Bureau, was invited to deliver a speech at the forum, saying that Han haiku is a product of the internationalization of haiku, which deeply reflects the characteristics of cultural exchanges between China and Japan. In his speech, Wang Zhongyi sorted out the "past and present" of haiku and Han haiku, and thus delved into cross-cultural communication and translation issues. He pointed out that as a literary form directly influenced by classical Chinese poetry and reflecting the spirit of Japanese culture and social emotions, haiku has a history of over 400 years so far. Han haiku deeply reflects the characteristics of cultural exchange between China and Japan, and has a broad public foundation. At the forum, researcher Dong Bingyue, President of the Lu Xun Research Association and expert in comparative literature between China and Japan, as well as Yan Shulan, PhD in comparative literature from Waseda University in Japan and assistant researcher at the Institute of Literature of the Academy of Social Sciences, participated in the dialogue. Yan Shulan discussed the innovation of Japanese "father of modern haiku", Masaoka Zigui, on haiku. Dong Bingyue believes that the translation of haiku clearly and deeply reflects the cultural expressions of China and Japan, and should be given more attention. The "Cross Cultural Forum" was hosted by Tan Jia, Deputy Director of the Comparative Literature Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Researcher of the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Liu Yuhong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered a speech, and Rao Wangjing, Deputy Director and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, summarized the forum. Liu Yuhong pointed out that the national Japanese monthly magazine "People's China", managed by the China Foreign Language and Culture Bureau and the earliest publicly released magazine in Japan, was born in 1953, along with the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the first national literary research professional institution in New China. Both sides have gone through 70 years of development together, and should work together more to tell Chinese stories and showcase a trustworthy, lovely, and respectable image of China. Rao Wangjing said that since its establishment, the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has been responsible for a large number of external academic exchange tasks and is an important window for the Chinese academic community to communicate with the outside world. The Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences stated that as the highest literary research institution in China, its holding of the "Cross Cultural Forum" reflects that the institute is actively exploring the path of combining basic research and applied research required for national construction. The Institute of Literature of the Academy of Social Sciences will give full play to its profound academic tradition and platform advantages in foreign exchanges, actively explore the path of deepening civilization exchanges and mutual learning through literary and artistic exchanges in the construction of Chinese path to modernization, especially cultural construction, and promote Chinese culture to better go global.
