French President Jacques Maklon, who is on a state visit to China, led a huge team, including an old friend of the Chinese people, former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin. In 2018, Lafarlane held a facial mask and took a group photo with the actors at the Guangdong Opera Art Museum. He was hailed as the 'Mr. China' in France, and his first visit to China was in 1971. Over the past 50 years, he has visited China dozens of times. This is Lafaran's second time joining the Macron visit team to China. In January 2018, after being elected as the President of France, Maclon made his first visit to China, and Lafarlane accompanied him as an important companion. The reappearance of the scene after five years is clearly not a coincidence. This French politician, a "China expert", has profound exchanges with various sectors of China. This visit also conveys a clear signal that the French side will further deepen the relationship between the two countries. For many Cantonese people, this 75 year old man is a 'familiar face'. He visited Guangzhou as early as 1976. Among his previous visits to China, he has visited Guangdong the most, exceeding 20 times. The wonderful relationship between France and China, which lasted for half a century, has been a part of the first visit of three French presidents. In 1971, at the age of 23, Lafarlane traveled to Hong Kong and Macau, making his first visit to China. From 2002 to 2005, Lafarlane served as the Prime Minister of France. In 2003, China experienced the SARS epidemic, and at that time, multiple heads of state and government cancelled their visits to China. Lafaran still insisted on visiting and provided medical assistance to China. After resigning as Prime Minister in May 2005, Lafarlane continued to be active on the stage of civil diplomacy. Since serving as the Chairman of the French Foundation for Outlook and Innovation in 2006, he has held multiple themed seminars related to China. Regarding Sino French relations, Lafarlane once said that he hopes to play the role of a coordinator, eliminate differences, and let everyone cherish Franco Chinese friendship like cherishing art. In fact, Lafarlane has been an important accompanying member of the French President's first visit to China for three consecutive times. In 2007, he accompanied Sarkozy on his first visit to China from Xi'an; In 2012, then French President Hollande invited Lafarlane to participate in his visit to China team. Since 2018, Lafarlane has been appointed by Macron as the Special Representative of the French Government for China Affairs. In January 2018, Ma Kelong went to Xi'an for his first visit to China and made a speech at the Daming Palace Park. Lafarlane saw Mark Long's speech in advance and suggested making changes to some wording. For example, changing the word "equivalence" to "balance" in several places in the text to better align with the emotions of Chinese people. Lafaran often runs on the front line of Sino French economic and trade exchanges. During his tenure as a director of the Boao Forum for Asia from 2010 to 2018, he led a high-level economic and trade delegation from France and Europe to attend the meeting every year, which was received by Chinese leaders, bridging the way for high-level political and economic communication and exchanges between France and China. Raffarin made a speech at the TV debate on "40 years of reform and opening up: China and the world" at the 2018 annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia. I love playing table tennis and once quoted the ancient Chinese poet Lafarlane as saying that I can no longer count how many times I have visited China because he is "always preparing for the next visit". Why is Lafaran like this
