In order to fully explore Shanxi's rich intangible cultural heritage resources and further strengthen the protection of historical and cultural heritage, on March 22, the Institute of Intangible Cultural Heritage, jointly established by Shanxi University and the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, was officially established in Taiyuan. The Institute of Intangible Cultural Heritage mainly serves the systematic protection and research of intangible cultural heritage in Shanxi, the construction of cultural and ecological protection areas, the revitalization of intangible cultural heritage and rural areas, intangible cultural heritage and characteristic tourism, intangible cultural heritage digital inheritance and application, and other intangible cultural heritage protection, inheritance, and research work. According to the relevant person in charge, the recent work of the research institute mainly includes: successively publishing the annual blue book on the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage in Shanxi and the first volume (10 volumes) of the series of protective achievements of Shanxi Province, a national intangible cultural heritage representative project; Jointly apply for national key projects and establish a national intangible cultural heritage research base; Establish an expert committee on intangible cultural heritage to carry out research and training activities for provincial intangible cultural heritage inheritors; Carry out campus promotion activities for intangible cultural heritage; Build a big data center for intangible cultural heritage resources in Shanxi; Hold academic exchange meetings on intangible cultural heritage in the Yellow River basin and Sanjin culture.
