The opening ceremony of the Djibouti Confucius Institute was held in the capital city of Djibouti on the 23rd. Zhao Lingshan, Vice President and Secretary General of the China International Chinese Language Education Foundation, delivered a video speech saying that the Djibouti Confucius Institute not only opened a new chapter in educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan, but also will become a new link between the hearts of the two peoples. Wang Mingyi, President of Sichuan Normal University, made a video speech and said that he believed that the Confucius Institute in Djibouti would continue to promote friendly relations and mutual understanding between China and Kyrgyzstan through Chinese language education and cultural exchanges, and play a positive role in building a community of shared destiny between China and Africa. At the unveiling ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Djibouti Hu Bin said that the Djibouti Confucius Institute can play an important role in the cooperation between the two countries under the framework of the Global Civilization Initiative, become an important bridge for promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan, and strengthen the foundation for the mutual understanding between the two peoples. The Minister of National Education and Vocational Training of Djibouti, Mustafa Mohamed Mahmud, said that the increase in economic and commercial exchanges with China has prompted many Djibouti businessmen and young people to learn Chinese. He believes that the Djibouti Confucius Institute will fully play its role as a link and make unremitting efforts to promote cooperation and cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the two countries. According to Zou Yanwu, the Chinese president of the Djibouti Confucius Institute, the Djibouti Confucius Institute is jointly established by Sichuan Normal University and the Djibouti National Education and Vocational Training Department, and is the first Confucius Institute in Djibouti.
