Tong Xiaolin said that traditional Chinese medicine pays attention to "regulating the state", that is, by restoring the internal stability of the body, improving symptoms and signs, to achieve the purpose of treating diseases. Traditional Chinese medicine's "tone" focuses more on the symptoms of the disease, that is, the "four diagnostic" performance at the time of treatment, and lacks the grasp of the whole process of the disease. This is because, limited by historical conditions, ancient Chinese medicine mostly practiced medicine for individuals, and thus lacked systematic observation of the disease's full cycle time axis. Secondly, the "state" is strong and the "target" is weak. "State" refers to the concept of "regulating state" in TCM, and "target" is divided into "disease target", "disease target" and "target target". "Symptom target" refers to the treatment of symptoms or signs, traditional Chinese medicine literature, and the experience of modern famous and old Chinese medicine, all of which are worth learning; "Target" refers to the treatment of physical and chemical indicators of modern medicine, which is the short board of modern Chinese medicine. For example, what medicine can reduce transaminase, creatinine, blood pressure, glucose and uric acid, etc., the ancients have no research conditions and ancient medical books have no corresponding records. Therefore, "target" is a problem that contemporary Chinese medicine must face directly. Thirdly, "individual" is strong and "group" is weak. Traditional Chinese medicine pays attention to the treatment based on syndrome differentiation and individualized treatment for one person, lacks the research on group treatment measures, and obviously lacks the grasp of the common laws of modern diseases, especially chronic diseases.
