Don't say that wisdom teeth are useless, but move to make up for the position

Everyone is familiar with organ transplantation, but have you heard of tooth transplantation? After tooth extraction, there are no longer only two options: inlay and implant, but you can transplant your wisdom teeth to "fill". Recently, Professor Lin Jiang, director of the Department of Stomatology of Beijing Tongren Hospital, led the team to successfully implement minimally invasive autogenous tooth transplantation assisted by digital 3D printing. The patient underwent a re-examination in January after the operation. After experiencing the "baptism" during the Spring Festival, the transplanted teeth were stable, the chewing function was gradually restored, and the wisdom teeth were successfully "moved". The patient is a 23-year-old lady Ma. Her left lower posterior tooth has been repeatedly swollen and painful for 5 years. Recently, her symptoms have worsened and she came to the department of stomatology for treatment. Because of the damage of the pulp floor caused by dental caries, it cannot be retained and needs to be removed. Lin Jiang provided two treatment schemes according to the patient's condition. First, after extraction of the affected tooth and the adjacent nonfunctional wisdom tooth, conventional implant denture repair was carried out, and the treatment cost was nearly 20000 yuan. The second is to remove the affected teeth and transplant the nonfunctional wisdom teeth to the toothless area. The cost is only 4000 yuan. Implant teeth have become a relatively ideal choice for the restoration of missing teeth because they do not damage the adjacent teeth, the masticatory function recovers well, and the sense of foreign body is small. However, commercialized implants are expensive, and due to various defects of non-self implants, it is difficult to compare with natural teeth. Exploring new dental restorations has become a hot spot in international oral clinical diagnosis and treatment research. The ideal implant tooth is autogenous regenerated tooth, but the current technology is still immature and the tooth formation cycle is long, and there is still a long way to go before it can be used in clinical practice. The organ transplantation technology of the non-functional third molar (wisdom tooth) overcomes the above shortcomings, and has the advantages of low cost, no rejection, no growth cycle, and so on. It has become a predictable implant replacement treatment program. However, there is a world problem in tooth organ transplantation, which is how to solve the problem of matching the personalized root shape of the donor tooth with the cavity in the implant area. Because of the great variability of molar root morphology, conventional instruments and techniques can not complete accurate implant cavity preparation, which limits the application of this technology. In this regard, the Department of Stomatology of Tongren Hospital broke through the technical bottleneck and, with the support of the Medical Department, completed the establishment of a new hospital technology for minimally invasive autologous tooth transplantation in 2022. Autogenous tooth transplantation technology gathers most of the current advanced dental treatment technologies, such as minimally invasive tooth extraction technology, overall periodontal treatment technology, alveolar bone and periodontal tissue regeneration technology, digital guide plate technology and implant technology. Lin Jiang organized experts from various oral sub-specialties to carry out preoperative discussions, solve the difficulties of multiple operations through computer simulation, and finally decided to use digital assistant technology to make a model of wisdom teeth using 3D printing technology, extract decayed teeth, accurately adjust the vacant position under the guidance of improved porous digital guide plate, give wisdom teeth a suitable "new home", and then minimally invasive and complete extraction of wisdom teeth, rapid implantation, and then elastic retention. Compared with traditional restoration methods, autogenous tooth transplantation is more comfortable and stable, and does not need to wear natural tooth tissue. Autologous tooth transplantation has better biocompatibility than dental implants. The cost of patients is reduced by 80%, and the number of follow-up visits is less. By virtue of scientific treatment plan, exquisite operation technology, rich clinical experience and close MDT cooperation, the stomatology team has brought health benefits to patients suffering from tooth loss. （
