The digital transformation of offline outlets has become an inevitable trend of banking development. According to the statistics of the exit list of institutions on the official website of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, the reporter of Securities Daily found that as of February 13, 267 banking outlets in China have been closed this year, and the online and offline automation and intelligence of banking business have developed rapidly. "The overall transformation of banks to online is a major trend and an inevitable result of the development and competition of the banking industry under the guidance of efficiency," Bai Wenxi, chief economist of IPG China, told the Securities Daily. Liu Xingsai, the author of Platform Bank, told Securities Daily that there are three main reasons for the closure of outlets in China's banking industry at present. First, in the past period of time, many banks, including large banks, have expanded their outlets on a large scale, but some outlets have performed poorly. Therefore, banks need to adjust the extensive expansion of outlets in the past, optimize the layout and function setting of outlets; Second, in the past, some banks actively promoted the strategy of community banking and the lightweight development of outlets, but lacked effective customer acquisition and business model, and the relevant exploration was not successful, so they were forced to give up; Third, the banking business is constantly online and scenario-based, and the traditional offline customer acquisition and live customer functions are shrinking, and the banking outlets have lost their position as the main channel of the bank. Although the bank outlets continue to shrink, it is undeniable that some residents, especially the elderly, still choose the outlet counter when handling some businesses. In Bo Wenxi's view, the demand of the elderly for bank counters still exists. Banks should improve their online service level while maintaining a certain scale of physical outlets. As for the challenges faced by bank outlets in the process of transformation, Chen Jia, a researcher at the International Monetary Research Institute of Renmin University of China, told the reporter of Securities Daily that the abolition of a network is not a simple "closure". Behind it is a complete set of operation processes of the network transformation strategy combination, including the optimization and reorganization of the assets and human resources of the old network, the optimization of the location decision of the new network and the connection of urban and rural planning, The rational allocation of resources to new communities that need the services of bank outlets, the innovation of product lines, the training of personnel on business posts, the design and implementation of regulatory compliance and risk safety are all the required actions that must be completed in the transformation of bank outlets in reality. For banks, maintaining the status quo can save financial costs, but from the perspective of high-quality sustainable development, serving the real economy, and serving the people, they cannot follow the beaten track. They must accelerate the all-round transformation to adapt to the changing new situation. In recent years, many banks have been building innovative characteristic outlets, developing in the direction of "small, beautiful and refined" characteristics and differentiation. For example, since last year, China Construction Bank has built a number of auto finance theme outlets; Industrial Bank has created a party building theme network; Pudong Development Bank has created tea culture characteristic outlets. Regarding the development trend of banking outlets in the future, Chen Jia believes that the banking industry is taking the transformation of outlets as an opportunity to accelerate the layout of new business districts and new communities. The withdrawal, merger and establishment of new and old outlets is not a simple alternation between the old and the new, but an integrated comprehensive strategy serving the regional economic layout and overall business development of banking institutions.
