Recently, the People's Court of Xiangdong District, Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province, concluded a fraud case. The defendant, Chen Moumou, was sentenced to two years and six months of imprisonment for fraud, and was also fined 30000 yuan, and ordered to return the victim's economic losses. After trial, the court found that from May 2021 to July 2022, the defendant, Mr. Chen, had no financial resources and large daily expenses, and in order to make illegal profits, he defrauded Mr. Wu, an elderly man who trusted him, and a total of 43800 yuan. Chen cheated Wu of 8200 yuan by fabricating the fact that he arranged the victim Wu to work as a security guard in a middle school. Later, the defendant Chen also fabricated the fact that he arranged the victim Wu to work in a security company and needed to buy security clothing, social security, medical insurance, endowment insurance, pay clothing fees, pay meals, and can buy welfare room, house decoration, etc., and successively defrauded Wu of 35600 yuan. After hearing the case, the court held that the defendant, Chen Moumou, defrauded others of money by means of fabricating facts and concealing the truth for the purpose of illegal possession, and the amount was relatively large, which constituted the crime of fraud.
