2023: Cosmic exploration moves towards a deeper space

2023-01-18

The year 2022 is undoubtedly the Space Year. The world was amazed by the wonderful images captured by the James Webb Space Telescope, saw the black hole of the Milky Way Galaxy, and witnessed the completion of the main configuration and assembly of the China Tiangong Space Station. Looking forward to 2023, scientists will explore more distant deep space and reveal more secrets of the universe. In April 2023, the European Space Agency will launch the "Jupiter Ice Moon Probe", which will be the first mission in Europe to explore the Jupiter system. The launch window is between April 5 and April 25. The "Jupiter Ice Moon Probe" will enter the orbit around Jupiter in July 2031, and will fly its large frozen satellites Europa, Ganymede and Ganymede several times in four years. After the flyby mission is completed, the "Jupiter Ice Moon Probe" will enter the orbit of Ganymede, the largest satellite in the solar system, and it will also become the first spacecraft to enter the orbit of another planetary satellite in history. Scientists are fascinated by Jupiter's icy moons, because they are believed to have a large amount of liquid water under the frozen surface, of which Europa is the most popular. It is considered to be one of the most likely places in the solar system where extraterrestrial life exists. The "Jupiter Ice Moon Probe" will be equipped with 10 kinds of scientific instruments, including a radar that can penetrate ice, so that it can study the internal oceans of the planet. Radar detection is the first step in mapping the planet's underground ocean, paving the way for more exotic tasks in the future, such as releasing the submersible. The first orbital test flight of SpaceX's super-heavy "Starship" spacecraft is expected to take place in early 2023. The "Starship" will be the largest and most powerful rocket built so far, with a length of about 120 meters, a takeoff thrust of about 7.7 million kilograms, and the ability to transport 100 tons of cargo to low earth orbit. This rocket will be used for commercial launch and the long-awaited Mars mission of Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX. It is reported that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has signed a contract that its astronauts will land on the moon by "Star Ship" around 2025. The first stage of SpaceX's "Star Ship" spacecraft is a booster, and the second stage is a manned spacecraft. The rocket will lift the spacecraft to a height of 65 kilometers, then separate and return to the earth in a controlled landing. Subsequently, the spacecraft will use its own engine to enter orbit. The "starship" part of the system has previously carried out several short-term test flights, and has achieved varying degrees of success. But the upcoming flight will be the first time that the entire "Star Ship" system enters space as a whole. This first orbital flight was originally scheduled to be launched in September 2022, but has been postponed several times. The long-awaited "Dear Moon" project, which launched the first lunar sightseeing tour, will be realized in 2023. The project aims at the first landing of ordinary people on the moon. It is planned to involve 8 members and fly on the moon orbit for about 7 days. At that time, participants will take the "Star Ship" being developed by SpaceX Company to carry out the journey around the moon. The exact departure date will depend on when the "Star Ship" can be tested successfully,
