The Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences held an offline report meeting. Among the 37 archaeological reports reported in two days, the new discovery of the Yin Ruins deserves attention. Since 2021, the Anyang Task Force of the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Social Sciences has carried out archaeological exploration of the Shang King's Mausoleum and its surrounding areas. Within two years, it has confirmed that the two surrounding ditches around the east and west areas of the royal cemetery area are the Huang trenches of the cemetery. At the same time, the Western Zhou ruins with an area of more than 40000 square meters have been found in the semi-fan-shaped blank area in the southeast of the royal cemetery area, which is the largest Western Zhou site found in the Yin Ruins. Niu Shishan, an expert of the Anyang Working Group of the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Social Sciences, said that the two ditches were around the periphery of the royal tomb area, and there was no overlap or break relationship between the ditches and the tombs and sacrificial pits of the Shang Dynasty. Only the late tombs broke the ditches and sacrificial pits, which proved that the ditches were earlier than the early Western Zhou Dynasty. In 2022, the archaeological team excavated four sites outside the southwest corner of the wall of the Shang Tomb Park, inside the Shang Tomb Park and outside the east wall of the Shang Tomb Park. The excavated relics include the late Shang Dynasty, the Western Zhou Dynasty, the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Song and Yuan Dynasties and other periods. (Xinhua News Agency)
